I have quite a few mechanical mods (clone and authentic) and all are either stainless steel or brass. I am curious about some of the aluminum ones that are available. Is their 510 connection aluminum as well or is it ss or brass? Just curious because I wouldn't mind owning a good mech with an aluminum body but a ss 510 connection. I prefer a ss 510 because of long term durability. Any suggestions? This is the reason I have held off on getting an aluminum mech mod.

I have no value to add except that I know copper is even softer. I've only had my copper SMPL clone for a few months and despite my best effort to be reasonably careful each time I thread an atty onto it, it's sloppy as hell, and it wasn't that way when I bought it. I'd be ...... if it was authentic. :)

I wish the 510 thread was originally designed with a 1mm pitch instead of 0.5. There are no helicoils for 0.5mm thread pitch because it's too damn fine. Imagine how easy thread repair would be to put helicoils in everything... and you could have all the conductivity of copper with the durability of steel.
