Argh.

I've been a smoker since I was 13. (I'm now 40.) I made the switch last Friday, but still have some analogs around to help deal with the withdrawl from the other crap.

In this case, I found myself typing away at the keyboard and wanting a fix. Without even consciously thinking about it, I grabbed one of the old ones and lit up. It was only when I tasted the Marlboro that I realized what I was doing...

Still, going from 1.5-2 packs a day down to less than a pack over 5 days isn't that bad all things considered...

Congrats!!
if you want to keep the marlboros around for security, and so you dont freak out (thats what I always did when I tried to quit before- freak out when i realized I wasnt ever going to get to smoke again) then by all means DO SO-

Just put them somewhere where you have to go and get them, search for them, work for them- something- Behind the frozen food in the freezer is a good place- (once when I was trying to quit with chantix, I threw them ON top of the freezer- they fell BEHIND IT and my little 5 ft 1 inch 110lb self MOVED said freezer that was TOTALY full to get my cigs back after about 3 hours..... LOL )

Put them in the trunk of your car- out in the garden shed UNDER a bag of mulch- at a neighbors house- ANYWHERE you have to WORK to get them- and before you know it- it will just be easier to pick up the PV and get a few hits off it. :)

I was lucky with the e cig- I did put mine in the other room- and I would walk by them all the time- I did finally smoke those last 4 or 5 just to prove that I could if I wanted to- but they were no good- tasted like crap... LOL

I had the same thing happen to me yesterday.... I was on the phone, pacing, grabbed an analog and walked outside and sat down and lit up. Never even thought about it until I started sneezing!

As a person who works from home when I'm not travelling, I haven't figured out how to work in my usual "breaks" where I go outside, light up and smoke half a cig and go back to work.

I have also found that I'm constantly checking my purse and pockets for my lighter! LOL

That's great advice!! I guess I need to move the analog too!!

Your doing good, keep at it. I started vaping about 3 weeks ago. I was a 1 1/2 PAD and immediately dropped to 8-9 analogs a day. Now I'm at 6 a day. Cutting back on the analogs seems to kind come natural once you find your nic level and you have the equipment that gives you what you want.

Great advice!! My trick so far has been not buying any more of my preferred (menthol) analog cigs but rather taking one of DH's NON-menthol's and they are nasty, lol.

:) I have not missed keeping up with my lighter at ALL but I have found myself freaking out because I thought my lit cig must have fallen out of the ashtray on the floor or something, he he.

good idea!!

see with that- I would personally make it my habit to ASK him to give me a cig. that way I had to THINK about it- of course, in the past (on other Nic replacement therapys) I would have pilfered a pack , hid them and never admited it till I just decided I was a failure once again and started buying my own.....

Heh heh Krikket, at least you didn't light your e-cig like I did the first night I used it. Yes, with a lighter.

Best wishes to you for success!

OH MY!! Good thing I cant find my lighters!! I can see me doing that some night!! (after a few glasses of wine)

Now if I can only get over patting myself down looking for the lighter :-/

LOL- I find myself REALLY looking for the lighter when I am driving- WHILE puffing!! LOL And when I am gathering up my stuff to leave or go to bed- before it was :
Dr pepper - Check
Cigs - check
Lighter- Check
cell phone- Check

NOW its :
Dr pepper - Check
Cell phone- Check
ecig and or case with ALOT of ecigs- Check
- now where is my lighter?? LOL

BUT, since I have 4 kids, and am always subconciously counting to 4 to make sure everyone is around, I found I also it with my stuff I take with me- Like a cat with kittens. I KNEW there was supposed to be 4 things, even if I didnt COUNT to 4 , I saw 4 things- so I was good- now its just 3. Which also explains why I would put my sunglasses with my DP, cigs, lighter and cell phone and STILL walk out without them. LOL

+1 for Rar's comment.

Health-wise, every analog NOT smoked is exactly that. Budget-wise, every analog NOT purchased is just that. I just think it's cool that I've "accidentally" started smoking less as a result of vaping. Forgetting to smoke and instead, grabbing one of my mods. I think the key for me is to let my PV naturally become force of habit while letting the analog routine become foreign.

Krikket - Being down to less than a pack across 5 days is immense progress. Helluva job!
