Works for me Stormy, I never change a flavor in an Atty once I decide on that juice I'm gonna run in it, so I fill it up and put a condom on the Batt end and let em sit, sometimes for half a day and it really help my break in process for me, also takes out that chance of that burnt taste thing as well

This is with an atty and not a cart? I just want to confirm. New attys are sooo frustrating but I've had two flavors stick around long past their welcome and when I broke out a new atty I got the coil taste.

I prefer a nice drip now and then but it's got to be when I have the time and patience to suffer through the atty break-in. Can you tell me if I have the steps right?
  1. blow out primer
  2. put bottom condom on
  3. fill to cover bridge
  4. put on top condom
  5. let it sit for ____
  6. vape like a champion!

Exactly mwa ..... You will get a nice taste from hit #1 on with that method.
If you ever get a bad taste 99% of the time its because the wick burn some on the first hit.

If you can't let them sit that long, at least do 10 drops and let sit for a minimum of 5 min.

I also steam clean all mine when I get them, so they are nice and "fresh"

Okay, looks like I'm going to need more attys and a labeling system.
Thanks, MWA and Big H (and Stormi for asking)!

Edited to add: This works! I just broke in a new atty without that nasty naked atty taste. I don't have much patience but 5 minutes steeping with the chosen flavor was all it took. Too cool!

Glad it worked, spread the word. When you get into the LR attys, you can ruin them if you don't do this.
The material he uses for wicks can burn easily in the first .25 seconds of firing. If that wick is not soaking wet the atty will taste like crap for a long time ... if not for ever.

Trust me I know (5 drops and 1minute is not enough) and I have this info from another supplier. Very helpful guy BTW.

It's kind of funny because I started doing this a really long time ago and it always has worked perfectly and I just figured everyone was doing it to break in a new Atty, especially LR's of any sort and 306's but just all of them, I have never gotten that burnt taste now for maybe 7-8 months since I've been doing this, it definitely is the way to go for breaking in an Atty for sure, the entire bridge, wick, and under the cup get a full flavoring blast of what ever juice you decide to use.

Never assume, I just learned recently when another supplier sent me a nice email explaining it.
That was after I ruined two LR 510s from his store. Well they are de-wicked and bridged and running fine at least.

I always did 5 drops and let sit a minute or two and it always worked .... even on my LR ones.
But not on the others I just got. I am a believer now, and will do this every time with every atty.

Plus I am a big fan of my hand held steam cleaner for cleaning attys. And I have started cleaning all the new ones as soon as they come in.
