I’m starting to hate headlines. They’re so often misleading.

Study says that lots of things cause emphysema, including many kinds of air pollution.

I've wondered for quite a while now if there is a dedicated department or persons that create only headlines. Their 'job mission' is probably something like, "We only briefly skim thru an article for keywords and create a catchable headline.".

There is or was in some lower end publications. That was one of Rupert Murdoch’s “innovations”. Iirc the weekly world news had a whole group to work on the headline and the body copy was considered secondary.
