Seriously. This 901 is friggin brilliant! All my entrepenuerial friends are already seething they didn't come up with it themselves.

Just got my kit yesterday from Cash, along with various flavors of juice. Gave the battery the required charge (ugh, what a long wait!), and late last night took it over for cards at a friends place. My best friend was completely blown away! I had been talking it up for a while but hadn't actually received it yet.... she was skeptical, but took a puff and you should have just seen her face completely light up! She said "You're right! I'm not smoking another cigarette again!" My other friend, an occasional smoker, took a puff and spent the rest of the night making a list of who was getting e-cigs for christmas :). These things sell themselves! Brilliant!

After a night of vaping, I do have a couple questions though:

1) Flavors - the flavors seem pretty week. I was pretty gobsmacked by the PG flavor, and for a while that was all I could taste regardless of which fluid I tried. This morning it's a little better, but that PG taste is still really overpowering! Will I eventually acclimate to the PG taste so the other flavors will pop a little more? I'm assuming so, so I'm not too concerned. I was just wondering if others had this experience when they first started. I have the JC sampler on the way, hopefully that will have a little more of a flavor kick.

2) Storage - Seriously. Just started and I have batteries/carts/fluid coming out my earlobes. What do you all do for storage/organization? I can tell some sort of system needs to be implemented here :p

3) Charged a battery fully overnight, this morning it's acting a little wonky. Every other puff will be an A+ puff, and then I have to suck and suck to get anything out of it, and then back to another A+ puff. Is this a short a short in the battery? I switched out atomizers, and the atomizer seems to be fine. Along the same line, for the amount of time these things need to be charged vs. the amount of time they last, would it be a good idea to invest in a second wall charger?

Thanks guys!

Congrats on your first eCig!

1) Yeah, that taste thing happened to me with my first eCig too.. Did you happen to use the carts that came with it, and then switch to a different flavor? If so, you are gonna taste that standard flavor for a little bit and it will gradually fade away.

2) As far as storage goes.. that is part of the fun! hahaha. Tupperware(spelling?) tool/manicure kit cases, etc.. If you find anything good, please let us know!

3) About the battery.. could be anything, sometimes they can be a wee bit quirky.. Rough it out for a bit, and the problem may sort itself out.. It has happened to me on a couple of occasions.. and the problem miraculously disappeared after a day or two.. No clue why. If not, I'm sure Steve will get everything worked out for you.

1, I believe it is also a matter of us smoker having damaged taste buds. As they recover when we quit smoking, the taste of the vapour gets constantly better and better... At least for me it did. With the same juice. Started approximately after a week.

2, I use my late grandmother engraved wooden boxes for... whatever she had in them. Cosmetics, I suppose. Dating to the 1940-ies. We did not have any real use for them for years, but were too beautiful just to throw out. One was a piggy bank, too, anf is fitted with a tiny lock. I store juices there. I do have the fear that a forgotten/misplaced bottle of juice is more dangerous than a forgotten/misplaced gun, because the gun screams danger and all but the toddler in our household know that very well. Juices look innocent and are deadly on a mere touch.

Good to hear on the flavor thing! I had a feeling it would get better. I'm planning on ordering some of Cash's coke flavor today, since I keep hearing soooo many wonderful things :)

I have no children, but I do have a dog and I'm terrified she's going to get into this stuff. She's pretty well behaved about food things though, doesn't usually get into things she knows she's not allowed to, but I'm still worried (naturally)! Guess it's time to pillage Target for some sturdy lockable containers!

I spilled a drop on the jeans I was wearing yesterday, and when I got home from cards she started sniffing the spot. I thought I had gotten it all cleaned out, but apparantly not! I stopped her from licking and threw the jeans in the laundry, but I'm a little worried that this stuff will be poisonous even after being rinsed/blotted after a small spill.

Any experience with pets getting into these liquids? What do you do if you spill a bit on the carpet, how do you make sure it get's thoroughly cleaned up? I would hate to spill something, think I've gotten it all, and then have her licking my carpet and getting sick :( At least children have the good sense to not lick the carpet..... (at least I hope so!)

Hey Pony -

You're not alone in your concerns for your pet. I'm terrified that my pups are going to get into this stuff. I made sure to start with low nic and I'm hoping to quickly switch over to no nic so that I can avoid the problem all together. Does anyone know if there is still a need to be concerned with pets getting into no-nic liquids?

Also, Pony, you may be disappointed with your JC sampler. I was super excited about getting mine but I've learned that even though they offer a nice array of flavors that their juice doesn't pack the same punch that others do. There's a couple of threads on their liquid and the consensus seems to be the same - very smooth but subtle flavor and extremely thin liquid (burns up quick). I'm vaping Jane's Kick juice now and I plan on shopping around some more.

Yeah, I've got 2 chargers + USB charger just in case. Sounds like that battery has got a bad switch, I've got a wonky one too, does the exact same thing. Personally, I'd contact Steve at puresmoker, he'll send you out one before you have to return the bad one, so you've at least got 1 working, 1 semi-working.

Excellent. Ordered some Coffee Kick Juice (free shipping! awesome!) and I'm going to run back and place an order for Cash's Coke + second charger. The battery seems to be slightly better behaved, but still not as good as it should be... I'll send steve an email with my order.

Good to hear on the 0 nic carts. I'm planning on switching down in a month or so.... we'll see how it goes. Right now I'm vaping "low", I think the switch down will be relatively painless... at least I hope so.

Man, I'm expecting a personal "thank you" card from my bank for starting my new hobby! I'm cutting myself off after this shipment until it's time to restock!

here' my 2 cents worth

1. It does take a little bit to acclimate yourself to the flavors. If you want a stronger flavor, you should definitely consider trying dripping. To me, the 901 is built for it. 3 drops on the atomizer seems to be the sweet spot for mine. Its a bit more work...but it is worth it.

2. Ecig stuff builds up quick...I went to the store and picked up a little plastic storage box with drawers that slide out...it works great. I found mine in the hardware section of walmart.

3. I have experienced the same wonky battery issues as well. Excluding the possibility of a bad battery...you might want to try one of two things:

Take just the battery and put it in your mouth and suck hard for a few seconds...repeat and see if it makes a difference. The vacuum switches can get stuck.

Sometimes I find this can be caused by excess liquid in the atomizer...leave it out overnight cart end down on a piece of paper towel, or put take the cartridge out and put the battery end in your mouth and blow through it several times..I would recommend covering the end with something absorbent or you will end up spraying liquid everywhere.

Hope this helps.

And now, my $.02 worth.

Humans are the only species dumb enough to go back and try something that made them sick the first time - nicotine, alcohol, etc. Usually, if a dog or cat gets sick from something like licking the carpet or the spot on your jeans, they will avoid that scent forever thereafter.

I love the dollar stores. The Dollar Tree near me currently has tins that are decorated for Christmas. At a dollar each, they make a wonderful place to store my electronic parts. I don't use them for juice because the bottles are too tall to stand upright and I am afraid of leakage. I use a small wooden recipe box for my juices. A plastic one would work fine too, the wooden one was just handy since I already owned it.

My youngest cat is enthralled with my carts and ecig, so I am very careful about laying it down or walking away from freerolling carts. Mostly he wants to play with them.

I am currently housesitting for my sister-in-law. She has a labrador retriever, newfoundland mix. That goober will eat anything he sees us put in our mouths. I have been watching him very carefully. I let him sniff my juice - he is not the least bit interested. I let him check out my ecig, while I held it firmly of course - no interest there either. It does not seem to smell like food to him, just something new to look into.

I would absolutely keep all ecig stuff away from ALL children. It smells good, like sweets. Our noses are not as adept as those of our pets. Even a teen might get into it trying to understand our liking for the stuff. I know I did that with alcohol and drugs and sex and anything else I was told I couldn't do until I was an adult.

My 901 batteries usuall last about 5 or 6 hours between charges. I was a 30-40 a day smoker if that gives you an idea how much I vape. The batteries need to charge a minimum of 4 hours each time after the initial charge. It is perfectly ok to put them on the charger before they are completely dead - actually this is preferrable. It is also ok to leave them on the charger longer. They do not hold the charge when they are away from a charger. By that I mean that storing charged batteries is pointless - they start to lose the charge quickly, not like an alkaline battery where it will hold a charge for months or years. My 901 batteries have a noticeable loss of charge in just 3 hours off the charger - I've been trying to rotate 3 batteries.

There is definitely an adjustment period with these things. I had to learn how to work these things to MY full advantage. That meant changing my draw - short and strong does not work well at all with these. I find that a long, gentle draw works best. First thing in the morning I am fiending way too much to be that patient with my nic fix. I still use an analog cig then.

I still have some adjusting to do. I get frustrated at least once a day. I keep trying because this is the best alternative I have found to date.

You may want to suck too hard. The autopsies of the batteries show a thin silicone membrane at the end of the pressure switch, and sucking too hard on the battery may rip the little bugger.

I feel at least 4 cents richer! Thanks guys!

My youngest cat is enthralled with my carts and ecig, so I am very careful about laying it down or walking away from freerolling carts. Mostly he wants to play with them.

I used to have a roommate with a cat. That cat would play with anything that was light enough to be flicked around. I had so many hair ties/bobby pens/twist ties/paint brushes dissapear into thin air when I was living with him! He would LOVE these things!

So far my dog has shown little interest except for the first day. I'm a little more worried about dogs I dog-sit for, or my parent's dogs when I go visit them for the holidays. They'll eat anything they can fit in their mouths, like cute little fuzzy goats. I'll just be careful, I'm sure it will be fine.

I think I might take your advice and walk down to the dollar store and check to see if they have anything that would work. Actually, now that I think of it, I bet a Bento Box would be PERFECT for supplies! Maybe I'll meander down and check out the Japanese mall for such a thing.

I did not feel like charging the bad battery up last night since it would mean I would not have a good battery to use today. When my new charger comes I will give it a shot. I was worried about fluid making it's way into the batt, but nothing came out when I let it drain overnight. I have four batts and I lightly sucked on the end of each and the suspect batt required much more effort than the other three to light up. I've also been blowing out my atomizers every few hours (which may or may not be excessive, I still am not sure on that) there seems to be a bit of a performance increase after I do that. But as for that battery, I'm not losing hope yet! I will see what happens with a full charge.

Also, I got my JC sampler in the mail and I can definately taste all the different flavors, which was such a relief! Some are definately more subtle than others, but that cherry flavor was wamm-o! I had my boyfriend take a drag of it (he's hesitant to switch to the e-cigs still mainly because he doesn't like how they taste) and he couldn't taste the cherry at all! I'm assuming at this point my taste buds are finally recovering from their analog induced hibernation.

I'm so glad I ordered the sampler in 0 nic.... I would probably be in trouble if I hadn't!

yay!
