Thanks for your help. This is my first PV. I have an EVOD coming in the mail and figured I'd just go ahead and get another ego style kit. Anyways, yes it blinks without the atomizer attached as well as with it attached..blinks a few times and then there's a long pause of no blinking, then it does it again. Hoping maybe it just needs to charge for longer..it's plugged into my laptop but I figured I'd at least get something after 2 hours. Thanks again. :)

it sounds like it might be bad. it's rare to see a brand new one do this but they are mass produced so it does happen. best bet is to take it back to the vendor you got it from and get a new one. also if it was a in store purchase, bring something to test out the new one before you leave the store.

NO, not trying to keep his hopes up. There was no mention of how many blinks the light was making (only one other person, not the original poster)... so, I was just stating what the blinks mean on my unit. Also, it's not a problem, just the normal workings of the unit I have. My best suggestion is to always check the manufacturers website for the best information, and to see if they have a manual for your particular unit. This is a good suggestion for just about any product in general. :toast:

ntirostix most units will have 2 or 3 blinking patterns. 30 blinks is the general sign of a battery in need of a charge. 3 blinks will signal battery issue, and 5-7 blinks a faulty atomizer. not all offer all three options but instead either the 3 or 5-7 option. further more there are so many unbranded ego batteries its almost impossible to know the manufacture. there are even faked joyetech ones out there, so a manufacture guide can be misleading and useless.

best way to test the issue is try another topper, and then with no topper. or put the topper that was on the unit in question on another unit, if it works on the new unit then its the unit in question.

The main reason I feel like the battery is bad is cuz I had a new Ego battery do this exact thing he described before I ever used it. It took a charge, the LED worked, but when connected to a clearo it would do the few quick blinks and then nothing. If it wasn't connected to a clearo the LED would light up normally when the button was pressed, making it seem like it worked. But it's a somewhat common issue w/ Ego batteries where they're basically DOA. I told the seller on ebay and he sent me another 1 right out. But there is a chance that it's just the clearo he's using, although unlikely.
