Hi, everyone!!!

I need help!!! LOL Probably more than any of you can offer  ..........but......... I'm not tasting any coffee flavor in my Wakonda and I'm thinking that maybe it's my coil build. Just so you know........I am loving it regardless, but want that coffee to come out more.

I'm currently loving my REO and my 2nd is arriving today. So, before I make the same coil I always do, I thought I'd ask what ohms you think I should aim for to get the delicious coffee flavor.

Just some notes ...... I have Wakonda from it's release, LP RM2, 28g kanthal and use a 2mm screwdriver to wrap around. Currently, I have been doing 10 wraps to get around 1.5ohms...........Should I do less wraps? Obviously, I don't understand the more/less wraps thing and how it relates to resistance or I would be able to follow the "Hit It or Quit It" thread and be able to replicate.

Thanks so much for any help. I truly appreciate it.

Since a Reo is not a regulated device (i.e. you can't control watts just by playing with a setting) the amount, or lack there of, of a coil's wraps set a specific drain on your battery which will give you more power when the battery is fresh off the charger versus when you are nearing the need to recharge. So really you can only play with the coils and change up the ohms to taste things differently.

In short I'd keep the 1.5 in the Reo you have now but try for a 1.0 ohm coil in the new one and drip the Wakonda to see if it's different (no sense waisting a full bottle yet...) If it isn't tasting the way you want try going up in coil reading past 1.5....there is always sub-ohming but be sure your battery can handle the high drain. If going below 1.00 ohms I would use a VTC5 battery as it can handle the high drain. Plus they are awesome batteries. ;)

I'm at .5 ohms on my Reo, 28ga, 5 wraps on a 1.4mm, or close to 1/16". I'm using KGD cotton wick. The coffee flavor comes out really well on the inhale, and I pick up the sweeter undertones on the exhale. I would do like Megan said and try a 1 ohm build for your other one. Check your coil position. You should be close to the air hole, centered. Adjust the height of the coil from the deck. Make sure you don't use too much wicking. There's a number of factors involved in bringing out flavors.

I'm pretty sure I'm using good batteries......The AW IMR18490, 3.7V and 1100mAh.

Have you tried changing flavors for a day or two then coming back to it? Might have a little bit of vapors tongue happening if you vape it alot.

Yes, I have been doing this. I'm a flopper.......lol I vape 2-4 different flavors throughout the day (maybe 3mL, if I'm lucky).........Try to hit the Wakonda every morning. Like I said, it is delicious, just no coffee flavor for me.

Thanks again for all of the help. Maybe pictures will help.

I'm using a small piece of KGD (at least I think it's small.......compared to what I use on my Helios RDA). Do you think my coil is too far away from the deck?

Is the new Reo a mini as well? If so you can't get the VTC5s for it, you have to use the AWs. If the new one is a grand then I chime in on the vtcs. :)

I haven't tried Wakonda in my Reo mini but in that one I use a twisted 30g micro coil at about 10 wraps and it's 1.0. I switch juices in the mini.
In my Reo Grand I have a twisted 28 g at about 9 wraps at .70 and that is the one I keep the Wakonda in. I use Imedic's coil jig, or at least I use the tattoo needle he included to wrap my coils on, I don't know the exact size. I twist the wire by hand using pliers to hold the open end and putting a small screwdriver in the other end to do the twisting, only takes a couple of minutes to do.

Another "pro-tip" is adjusting the rotation slightly... like, try hitting it after a bakery vape, or after a fruit vape, or after... you get the idea. Sometimes the vape that preceeds a liquid "in the rotation" can have a dramatic effect on what I taste. (Don't ask me why I track these things, I am a freak)
