building a box mod?

And have been stalking the mailman haha...probably get it in the mail monday. Any way I was reading up about putting it together and ran across someone saying to keep it simple to skip installing the resistor and LED light. Don't really care if it lights up. I just wanna be sure I can do this not mess anything up. This is my first time trying to build one of these, but I'm excited Thanks in advance for taking the time to help a newbie out.

You don't need an led and resistor. With that kit wire the red wire from the on/off switch to one side of horn switch, other side of horn switch to positive on connector.(inside little piece) black wire from neg. battery contact to outside of connector.

NP, I've never built a device with a LED. The only thing I want to light up is the coil and that only figuratively.

I like LEDs, the small 2mm ones, flush mounted. For me they are an indicator that the cells are properly installed (especially for those twitchy AA type battery holders) and working. They also help to quickly isolate a no vape condition. Nothing to do with being pretty. Everything I have ever owned has always a light to indicate it is on.

Yeah the led can be used more for a indicator/troubleshooter then cosmetic. This is why some people also intrigrate meters into the mod.

I never put the LED's in my boxmods. After you've been vaping a while you can tell if everything is working right by the sound and feel of the vaporizing liquid. I just wire the switch inline on the + wire. It's more stealthy to vape, and keeps it super simple too.

You can solder it back on but take it out of the box to do it, you have to get it pretty hot for the solder to stick good and you don't want to melt the plastic.

Instead of starting a new thread what gauge wire do you all use. I've got three mods made and have to keep re soldier some of the wires. I'm using non lead soldier.. thanks.

Well FWIW regular leaded solder is much easier to work with. Lotsa soldering vids on YouTube,

I tend to use some 22 ga stranded I have, but also use some 18 ga solid. Sometimes both in the mod. Each has it's certain advantages.

Yeah, you don't really need the tab, just solder the wire right to what's left and it'll be fine.

Right on my first was a 5v box mod and used way to much wire and the inside looks terrible. But she puffs like a champ. Nice avitar love fm
