Building a mesh hybrid or u-wick for protank

I was thinking of building a mesh hybrid or u-wick for my protank.
However it seems too cramped and i'm afraid the mesh will melt the silicone cap.
Anyone tried it?

Like you said, cramped, I never could get mesh to work consistently. I either had shorts or leaks and gurgals. I had the best luck with Cotten.
