Update-

So I did a little poking just to ensure proper heat distribution. Seems to help a little but the big factor was adding higher PG based juice and it seems to wick much better.

If all you need is to get the juice thinned a bit you can also just add water. It doesn't take much at all to make a viscosity difference. Try a few drops in a tank at a time. The thing with this is it will take a lot less than adding PG so you won't change the juice as much.

I live in Mission Bay and I think there's a Marine Supply store down the street. I'll see if I can get some SS rope.

Flavor on twisted kanthal is a lot better than SS cable IMHO.

Or as Ryedan suggested a drop or two per ~5ml goes a long way, both would work.

Thanks for the info. I just have ribbon, sort of worried it will kink. I'll see how much I have when I get home.

round wire or bust for twisted kanthal. 28 or 30GA works the best.
