Hi I've been vaping for over a year now and am just now learning how to build my own coils. I have 26 gauge kanthol and am trying to figure out how to build a .2-.4 ohm dual build on my mutation v4. How many wraps should I be wrapping? And how does the diameter come into play when building lower ohm coils?

Go to Steam engine and play with the coil tab.
Put in the gage and desired resistance , single or double coil , inside diameter and it will give you all the info you need.

For a single coil, the longer the wire, the more resistance. So adding wraps or increasing the diameter will raise the resistance. When you have dual coils, the resistance is cut in half. So to build a 0.4ohm dual coil, you need two 0.8 ohm single coils, and you want them to be even.

.2 ohms is a really low build. And with 26G wire your coil is going to be just a few wraps and will burn super hot. You won't like it.
Try 6 wraps around a 3mm driver, for about .35-.40. You wont get to .2 unless you go with 22 gauge wire.

A larger diameter coil adds more resistance, a larger diameter wire lowers resistance. A larger coil is able to hold more juice and lasts longer between wick changes, a larger wire vaperises more of the juice.

Yeah, I thought about getting into all of that. You have to find a balance between the resistance you want, the wicking, the airflow, the ramp up time. Lots of nuance.
Yeah, the big question is what mod you have. I use mechs. and usually stay around .3, go to the steam engine coil calculator and look up the diameter you want or do like I do. Make a vape book I have a small note book with the coil builds for 1 to .25 ohms at 2 to 3mm coils and everything from single to dual parallel. I then just look in my book and no more being online or buying the app.
