Hey everyone,

My kanthal finally arrived today and I built my first coil/cotton setup. It was easier than I expected thats for sure!

- I did a 10 wrap of 30awg on a 5/64 drill bit (didnt have a 1/16)
- used cotton wick
- came out to 2.3 ohm (more than I expected, was hoping for 1.8-2.0)
- initially tried 4.0V

I'm using it on my MVP 2.0 and finding that when I hit the fire button there is a bit of silence then a pop before it starts vaping properly. A few times the pop caused some hot liquid to hit my tongue. I tried at reducing to 3.4V and that sort of stopped the popping. Also, it seems to pop only after sitting for about a minute. If I chain vape there is no issues.

Any suggestions?

I built one yesterday that I will be using for awhile using 28ga Kanthal with 9 wraps wanting somewhere between 1.5 and 1.8. I got a 1.6 which is working perfectly on my PV at 8 watts. It is the first I built on my kayfun Lite Plus but not the first I've built as I also had an IGO-W for over a month now.

Well I decided to rebuild a couple MT3s heads and I went with 8 wraps on the same drill bit and got 1.9 on both. They are vaping like a champ now!!

I have to say, the flavor really stands out now! I can't believe it really... makes me want to re-order some juices I've tried already to see what they are like now!

I would suggest trying to play around with the amount of cotton you are using. too much and it will be dry...too little and I find it spits juice and pops like crazy.

currently I have two very similar builds going, 0.4ohms difference, everything else is identical (tanks, wire gauge, wick material, build type, diameter). One is dead silent. The other pops a bit, but not too terrible. as donnah mentioned above, a little popping is not a big deal, but I don't like it when it starts to go crazy.

whenever I had my tanks spitting hot juice at me, I wasn't using enough cotton. Maybe add a little bit more cotton and see how it goes. experiment with different amounts until you find your sweet spot. a little cotton goes a long way. but too little cotton can cause popping/spitting, in my experience.

enjoy the ride, and congrats on getting the first coils running! :toast:
