So I built my very first coil today after a ton of trial and error it came out to .93 ohms with 6 wraps. Just wondering if this is a good start and if you guys have any tips to make it easier for my future coils
It really depends what you were aiming for and what you're using it on. Next week you will make 20 coils...good luck to you and well done on that first step.
Congrats on your first coil build like previously stated depends on what it is for. Welcome to the wonderful world of rebuilding. Hard to go back once you get the better results.
Welcome and congrats! I built my first successful coil last week on an Evod with cotton and 30g. Tiny little bugger was getting the best of me and my giant hands but I've made a few good ones since. They vary between 1.8 thu 2.2 ohm and vape better than the stock coils.
I usually do 6 wraps out of 26 awg around a 5/64 drill bit and make a micro coil. They come out to about .51 ohms. Just be sure you have a good quality battery if you do this.
Look up Rip Trippers on YouTube and look for the basic coil building techniques, remember to keep your wraps tight and tidy those coils up so you don't get any hot spots. Also get a battery with high watts so you can build whatever your heart desires. Mine is an LG 35 watt 2500mah 18650 and I can run a .12 ohm build on that. Don't try to get that low of an ohm until you are way better at building.
Good for you! You'll build a bazillion before you find the coil that's just right for you and whatever juice you are vaping. But a coils between .5 and 1.0 ohms are my goal. Have fun and don't get too frustrated....the trial and error part is what makes you a master.
Trust me when i say this: practice, practice, practice. Keep practicing and going into shops and watch how the pros build and ask them for tips and you'll be a very good builder in no time.
Built my first 4 yesterday. 8/9 wrap of 30gauge Kanthal, on a 1/16" drill bit, coils touching and wicked with rayon, on a T3s head in a Smok FBC. Should be around 1.8ohm according to all the calculators I've checked. Working great so far.
Once I figured out in my pea brain that it wasn't so different than tying a fly fishing pattern, it was pretty easy.
