Just built my first coil and wick/eyestrain

After months of watching vids on coil building, I just built my first coil on a Russian 91%. Any suggestions as to what ohm works best for flavor on these. I really love it compared to the Kanger's etc. But my eyes are pleading with me to find something with a bigger/ easier deck for these old eyes.
Would like to hear suggestions for builds that are easier for old eyeballs.

For your build, first off, follow the suggestion of the others and get either a helping hands or jeweler's lighted mag headband. As to the ohms, that's going to depend on what you are running it on, and how warm you want your vape. I would suggest striving for 1.0. You can go up or down from there. I have a similar atty, the kayfun lite and I ran it at .9 ohms. But it really doesn't matter what build you do, you have to be able to see it!

Unfortunately all coils are small (at least to these old eyes)! Consider investing in something like this to help. Just an example (i.e. this is not high quality but may be enough to get the job done). Jewelers Headband Magnifier

I use something very similar to this. My wife makes jewelry so she had them at her work station. They work great cause you don't have to move them or adjust them when you change angles like the magnifying glass on a stand.

Unfortunately, almost everything is going to be small and detailed. The Kayfun is one of the easiest but some drippers with holes in the posts can be a little easier. As others have said...magnifiers are almost a necessity for baby boomers.

As for coils. I use a 1.8ohm coil on a 3.7 volt device. Pretty basic 6 wraps on a 1/16" drill bit and wick with cotton. The good thing is that coil has been going strong for 6 weeks with a dry burn and re-wicking every week or so.

An articulated lit magnifying glass of large diameter is my next purchase, I'm not fond of putting extra lenses in front of my glasses that is enough junk on my head as is. The fact that I'm blind as a bat these days isn't all that fun, but I've made it okay thus far being blessed with steady hands.

I wrap my coils around a 2mm precision screwdriver shaft. I build a target resistance between 1.3 - 1.5 ohm so that I can use my Kayfun Lite Plus on either a mechanical or regulated mod.

I use this handy Coil Toy Calculator to help me visualize what my coil will look like. Type in the appropriate info in the drop down menus and learn how many wraps for a particular resistance coil. Provides a graphic of how the finished coil should look.

It seems the Kayfun-style RBA's work best between 1.0 - 2.0 ohm; anything below 0.8 ohm might melt the insulator. I typically add the number "two" to whatever resistance I build to and use the sum for my voltage setting: 1.5 ohm + 2 = 3.5 volts.
