I have a Taifun and love it. Don't have a kayfun so I can't say one is better than the other, but I do enjoy my Taifun.

What were your dimensions and wraps?? I may have to make this one [:
(Ex: .20mm wire, 5 wraps around 3mm silica)

All I had on hand was 32ga kanthal, so I read on here where someone suggested doubling it and I did 6 wraps around a 5/64 drill bit, filled it with regular cotton and bam! 1.2. I have an MVP 2 so I have to keep the ohms above 1.0.
I have 28ga coming, but don't have it yet!
