I just built my first evod coil with 32 gauge kanthal.. 4 turns around 5/16 and it sits at around 2.2 ohms. The problem is that it is very hard to draw on.. does that mean I used to much cotton?

It didn't seem like a lot of cotton that I put in there... Also how can I tell on an EVOD if the coil is touching the housing?

I am getting vapor so I know it is working and the flavor does taste nicer than the kanger coils (and no sputtering and flecks of juice on my tongue)

ok i had issues like this too, i use about 2 rice grains worth of cotton, then just roll that up in your fingers till its just as thin as a pin..it really wont take much. it will stretch out to be about an inch long..you will have to try a few times to see what works for you.

as far as telling if your coil is touching, I use a magnifying glass/LED light from Harbor Freight..cost me about 7 bucks...I can see up super duper close and it helps to tell if things are ok.

stock Kanger heads kinda blow, so thats why I learned to rebuild mine - its helped make much nicer vapes.

I took off the alligator clip/bar, saved it for later if i need it (doubt I will).

or the fancy one: http://www.harborfreight.com/desktop-magnifying-lamp-97448.html

that 6x magnifying spot is tiny, but it works..I close one eye so I can see up close..tends to help a bit.

I have been building the kanger protank coils for about a month a half now and I have been playing with different builds. Try a 5/6 wrap on a 5/32 but compress the coil to try to get them to touch. You will get a 2.0 to 2.2 ohm coil. And when inserting cotton u don't want the wick to be to thick. Like if you tug on it and it doesn't move it's too tight. The flavor wick that help keep it from flooding that u place on top need to be about half the size in thickness. I just built 2 28g 7/8 wrap micro coils for my tank today and they are spot on. Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the quick responses... I didn't put a flavor wick on it but turns out one of the air holes at the base of the connector was clogged... Pushed a piece of kanthal thru all the holes and now it is drawing like a champ!

The Cherry Cola I got from Vapedojo tasted a little burnt with the original Kanger Coil... Now it taste pretty amazing. I can actually taste the cola under the cherry

If your building for a bottom coil then you might want to check out "micro Coils".
I stopped building for my BCC and nova's. I can get the coils complete cheap enough that I don't worry about it any more. I'll try and post a link to the micro coil builds by the master himself.
I'll build a Micro coil over a standard coil any day. But I have physical problems also. Micro coils are the way to go.
But also note that I only use em on my Kayfun Lite and my RM2's.
not the one I wAS LOOKING FOR. but may help a bit.

I thought I was building a microcoil... The video I saw used a 5/64 for a microcoil and 12 wraps of 28 gauge... I tried with 32 gauge and got like 5 ohms :( that is why I switched to 4 wraps.

Correction... It was 5/64ths that I built on

So just had a major problem... The 70/30 burned like nothing else (not going to use it again) but it also leaked from the pin onto the battery!!!

6 turns on 1/16 and got like 2.2 ... But the leak is a bad thing right?

Looks like a busted the isolator that the pin goes on.. little nick on it that I guess would cause the leak

By the looks of your pick, the lack of wick through the side ports could allow too much juice to pass into the coil cavity.

Looks much better Numus. Horizontal micro coil in an Evod is perfectionView attachment 281567
Just use enough cotton to slide through coil with little resistance.

I am guessing I can't make a microcoil with 32 gauge.. I tried but resistance is always >3 ohms.

I followed a youtube video about making the coil and they said to push the cotton into the bowl.. That is what I tried to do but apparently that isn't right.

I use 30:blush: gauge kanthal 8/9 turns = ~2 ohms, 34 gauge would be 4/5 turns (too small). The goal of micro coil is bigger coil surface area = more vapor.
When they say to push wick into bowl, they are talking about the pro tank(not Evod). I have all mine full at the moment, sorry no pic.

Just did 7 turns for 1.8 ohms. Built a new coil and have both of the heads sitting on papertowel and will see if they leak overnight... So far I have built 2 successful heads in a row... Think I am finally understanding how to make them and only takes a few minutes a coil now
