I just got my AGA T+ in and I'm trying to get it set up. Got a nice coil wrapped, rolled up a pretty nice wick (at least I think it looks nice), and took the torch to it to get it nice and oxidized, but once i filled up the tank and started vaping it just tastes burnt to hell. I got about a 1.4ohm coil and I'm vaping at 3.7v. Is there something I'm doing horribly wrong or do I just need to vape it awhile till it gets "broken in"?

did you make sure to drip some on the coil first before vaping?

yes i dripped enough onto the wick to make sure it was all wet, but it just tastes like burnt carbon. I could just be the mesh that was shipped with it is ...., so I have a sheet of 400 mesh coming to me should be here any day now.

gotta watch for hot spots on the coil, it may look pretty but if it has a hotspot you will definitely get a burnt taste, also check to see that the wick isnt touching the very bottom of the tank if it is its probably adding to the short

The Wick isn't touching bottom and i don't see any hot spots checked over several times for them.

Seems like your tasting the soot on the wick. an oxidized wick tastes like crap for me.Don't oxidize

agreed it could be the burned crap on the wick.
but usually the taste is an uneven glow on the coil, a hotspot or a short.
with the cap off fire the atty and watch the coil (when wet) and see if the whole coil area steams up or is it just bubbling around one or two coils? if it doesnt steam from almost the whole coil its still hotspotting.

many of the cheaper attys also ship with questionable mystery mesh and that may not be helping any of the other problems either.
