burned taste with USB passthrough?

I have a 510, It's a filled properly and even topped off with a drop or two. So I keep it nice and moist. But I am getting a real bad burned taste. Does anyone know why? Am I hitting it to hard? I have seen videos on you tube where they hit alot harder than I do.

I wouldn't think it's the USB - mine hits just a bit stonger than the regular battery but not to a point where it would get too hot. Maybe a result of the liquid, age?,dirty?, could even be the atomizer type? I hit mine 4 seconds a vape or so with no problem using Joye 510s.

I am vaping the atomic fireball I got from TV. I just got this a few weeks ago. I wad up paper towell and put it inside the atty and blow out the old liquid. So I don't think it's dirty. The 510 itself is only a few weeks old. I have no clue as to why it is getting so hot.

I would venture to think it's the heavy candied flavor getting built up in the atty. Have you tried cleaning the atty, not just blowing out but one of the methods mentioned on this board where it soaks. There is a wick under the metal mesh of the atty and above the atomizer itself that tends to get built up with the candied type flavors and will not blow out of the atomizer. It is a similar material to the cartridge filler. There are also those that remove the wick material itself from the atty using a paperclip, but I did not like the result personally.

This may or may not be your problem but here goes,
make sure to line up the rectangle bottom of the cart to the white rectangle ceramic piece that you can see in the bottom of the atty... otherwise you are tasting the plastic.
try that if you haven't already done so.
i would tend to believe that is the problem.

Just another note,
the 510 has this problem, the 901 sometimes, and the 801 not.
one other thing, if you find that lining up the cart to the atty is a hassle (i do it all the time) you can trim off a little off the bottom of the plastic cart, then it will not matter. Just shorten your juice capacity a little.

If you're using a standard 5volt passthrough as opposed to the inline battery 3.x volt passthrough then that's probably the reason, 5volts is too much in my opinion for a 510 and you'll probably end up blowing a lot of atomizers.

thanks. I try to remember to line them up right. For the most part I think i do out of habit. Maybe I will trim the cart material a bit. Should I be direct dripping instead? I think I do need to do a good clean on the atty. I have not done that and the flavor build up makes sense. I am pulling out some threads from the atty that look like burned straw. So I think a nice long cleaning would do them good.

I think it's the 3 volt? Not sure, I am borrowing my husbands and he got it from the guys at ecigsupply. I figured try his before I get my own to see if I like it.

NO, NO, AND NO,
I use a puresmoker pt with 510's, carts, 901's, 801's and whatever else they make out there and you do not get a burnt taste.. period. It is the cart plastic that you are tasting.. period.
Not the juice, not the voltage, not even the weather.

Honestly possible its not the cart burning. I have a similair taste issue and it only happened after I cleaned my attys for the first time. Certain the cart isnt burning plastic tastes a bit different. My issue is i probably messed up my attys while trying to clean em been playing with em all day trying to get the nasty taste away..
