Hello everyone. Been vaping for about 4 days now and im noticing that some of my cartomizers (vapor king v4L) are beginning to taste like burnt plastic but are still producing a bunch of vapor. Obviously the atomizer or something is cooking so i cease use when i taste/smell it. This wouldnt bother me as much if i got my full use out of it, but it happened like 20 puffs into about 3 of them, and maybe 50-75 puffs into maybe another three. Is this normal? could they be old cartomizers all dried out? Also, im thinking about ordering bottles of juice to start refilling. Can i refill these carts that smell of burnt atomizer, or are they "toast"? My only complaint so far, other than that great flavors, and great company. thanx

That's just the way cartomizers are. I find they burn no matter what and most people who argue that if you keep them constantly topped of or they never burnt a cart are the people who seldom rip many apart to actually see the burning. Many times they will burn without even getting the burnt taste just the nature of the beast. I loved V4L carts until I came upon the realization and after a couple months of trying to remedy this issue it is a manufacturer flaw and will not purchase them until it is resolved. It seems people rather argue about it then get anything done, it's a potentially unsafe product because of it's tendency to burn the filler. No product should take weeks or months of testing to possibly find a way to use it without burning filler for yourself and make "safe".

There is a new 510 cartomizer that just hit the market and I received a pack a few days ago. I'm putting these through the ropes and hoping they don't burn, they perform great. If they don't burn then these are the way to go but I wont recommend them until people spend more time testing them on this issue.

I use cartos on my KR8. I was lucky and found out before I used them that if they start to taste burnt, you may as well throw them away. The taste never comes out. Buy some new ones and lots of juice and top them off regularly. The cartos may not have been filled all the way and that's why they failed so quickly but if you have juice you won't have to worry anymore. I use the 'plunger' method to fill and top off. It is very easy and you can probably search for it. Also, syringe filling is used by many members or dripping right out of the bottle.

DiMez has a point. I use the soft cap cartos and regularly check the filler. So far they all look clean and white but I will toss them if look burnt in any way.

Nick, actually there have been a number of threads like that. It's just usually they are either removed or closed like this one:All my used carto's are TOAST !!

It really just makes me cringe anymore when people talk about their cartos. We really don't know how safe the niquid we are inhaling, but burning polyfill just can't be good.

I don't understand why these threads get closed. I would say this issue is the biggest threat to the e-cig industry. It's one thing for the media or anyone arguing against e-cigs to bring about potential dangers of eliquids but there is no argument saying "e-cigs are unsafe because manufactures fail to address an issue of BURNING filler."

It appears vendors and manufactures try to ignore this issue or sweep it under the rug because of the obvious negative effects it may have on their business. Stop trying to cover it up already and lets get something done so it's not an issue at all....

I think it usually is because of a number of people from a certain supplier. I can only assume that it is because they think we are attacking their supplier or the method they used to quit smoking. I can understand this to a point, but if there were as many concerns and pics about the 510, I would quit using it as soon as I ordered and received a different "safer" PV.

wow, maybe its in my head but they are all tasing burnt now! Just cracked open a camel flavor and tasin burnt. I really hope this concern gets addressed by the industry quickly, but looking at how far back those posts go we may be SOL!!
What are they vapeing them with? A normal batt or a passthrough? Passthrough will burn them real quick

Using both. Passthrough when im at the pc and batteries on the road. I can see how the passthrough would burn em up quick.

Yes the best way to avoid burning them to soon is to not use the passthrough. Or when you do use it be very careful and take a break in between drags to let it cool.

Ordered some of the 510 carto's myself and let us know what you think. Mine are on the way and I hope they do not perform like some of the 808 carts I've received. The Kr batterys are very nice but those carts (some of them) are a bit suspect IMV. Soon as I get a weird taste with the known flavor.....in the trash it goes.

A good reason to use 3-parters ;)
If you get too worried, the 901 atties work great on KR8 batteries.

What do I need for this set up? I've got some KR batts and not sure if I want to use them for the 510 carto's or run an adapter for 901. Your the 3 piece guy and I'm leaning more towards exclusive myself, especially if these 510 carto's are not any different than the 808 carto's. From the initial reveiws however, they seem pretty good.

Send a PM if you like.
