What's the point of no return for cartos? Been going through my sampler pack from SI and for the 2 carts i've gone through both have ended with me changing them when I receive no vapor and a slight burned taste. I'm wondering if thats all it takes to ruin them and whether or not I should even bother trying to clean and refill them.

Not really sure how I'm suppose to tell when they're done otherwise. It pretty much went from normal vape to no vapour and burnt taste.

Hi Tra. Welcome to ECF.
We're glad you're here.
How long did the cartos last before they tasted burnt?
How were you filling them?
What equipment are you using?
Sorry for all the questions... Just trying to help.

Essentially to clean them you're going to want to draw a solution through the cart and rinse it out. Popular methods I've seen have been to use a syringe or a turkey baster, youtube should show ya some tricks. From videos and tutorials I think water will work just fine but depending on the juice that was in there you may need something more thorough. After that you need to dry them.

As far as how long they last, go until the flavour starts to fade even after filling.

Went about 2 weeks on one of them, tasted fine all the way through then one drag was weak and slightly burned so I stopped and put it aside. I've yet to fill any so its only been prefilled before I received it.

I got a volt kit from SI with a sampler pack.
Wow, Tra, 2 weeks is excellent for a carto!
They only cost about $1.25 each & they are disposable. I don't clean mine. Just keep em wet. The longest I can get on a carto is 7-10 days. I'm happy with that. My cigs cost $12/ pack.
My setup:
Kgo 1100 mah
+Boge LR 2.0 cartomizers
+ goooood juice

Two things you need to say. Working voltage and Cartomizers' resistance.

What you should do and i've learned that from a carto-fanatic is fill it the first time slowly until it leaks and give it 15 minutes to rest so the liquid goes everywhere. If you use a tank after doing the previous, put it in the tank and let it rest the 15 said minutes within a full tank. Then go give it try. It should be perfect.

Do yourself a favour and don't clean it. Just throw it away after 4-5 days maximum a week. Or to be more precise based on consumption, throw it away after maximum 50ml of liquid.

Also cleaning resistance with tap water is the worst thing you can do because of water salts (not sure if salt is the right word..technically). If you need to use something use ionized water.

I am hanging out here waiting for someone to answer your question Tramd. I used prefilled cartos when I first started, but they were the kind that just quit hitting when they were done and I just threw them away. Now I am using cartos that I fill. Some of them are dual coil and some are single. I myself do not know how long they are supposed to last nor how to clean them. I just make sure to put a few drops in them often. I now use the eGo Twist battery and not the small stick battery and I am entering a whole new experience. (for the better!) Sorry I cannot help you, but glad you asked the question. Thanks!

I was never a big smoker, so its not surprising. I've been holding out for CE3's to refill but if i run out of carts I have this free sample i got from vape dudes that I might try. SI is about have them in stock so I'm likely going to order from them next week.

totally agree! I buy from CCV 15 pack. I do clean out some after 5 days use to keep on hand just in case the mailman doesnt show up. They are disposable

Ya it seems to be a guessing game as to when you should be refilling them, unless you're continually topping them off. That does seem to be the best strategy though. I'm not too concerned about it, I've already made the decision to get some CE3's and use those to fill. Just wondering if i should hang onto these carts.

Hi, Tramd and welcome to ECF!

Please, whatever you do, never ever let your carto get dry!!! They need to be topped off early and often in order to keep them in good working condition! Once they taste dry--or even worse, burnt--they are toast and need to be discarded.

The math is simple: one cartomizer contains about 1 ml of eliquid--or 20-25 drops. One drop of eliquid will give you 4-6 puffs, depending on the Wattage and on your vaping style. The best case scenario: 25 (drops) x 6 (puffs) + 150 puffs. And that means you'll be vaping your carto dry--which will cause burning of the filler. So, for all practical puposes, you should never go beyond 100 puffs, more or less, before topping off.

Get some eliquids compatible with the flavors that come in your prefilleds and keep your cartos moist at all times.

A good cartomizer can successfully process 6-10 ml of ejuice, again, depending on the circumstances (Wattage, VG/PG ratio, how much flavoring/coloring/sweetener your juice contains etc.). Once the flavor and vapor production begin to diminish, even from a freshly refilled carto, it's time to throw it away. They are disposable, so unless you absolutely have to reuse them--throw them away. Cleaning never brings very good results as the coil gets covered with gunk that is pretty much impossible to dissolve without dry burning--and one CAN NOT dry burn cartomizers.

Happy vaping!
