I've been using my Pilot e-cig for about 2 months now and have been analog free for almost that long now. I've noticed the following and have some questions:
1. Even though I used to smoke only about 1/2 pack a day (1 or 2 in the morning and the rest in the evening) I am now puffing the e-cig constantly in the evenings and the batteries are only lasting about 1-2 hours. So I'm going through FOUR batteries every evening in about 5 hours. The atomizer can get pretty warm sometimes when I'm puffing on it. Is this normal for the battery to only last about an hour when I'm charging them for 10-12?
2. I smoke menthol and LOVE the menthol from pure-smoker.com, but sometimes I get a scorched or burnt taste from the vapor that won't go away. Is that normal? Every once in a while I blow out the atomizer against a cloth or paper towel. I use the same cartridge until the wool finally comes out (about a week) and refill with 4-5 drops every few hours. Is the scorched/burnt taste because of the atomizer, the cartridge or the amount of refills or some combination of all or is the scorched taste just the result of the atomizer heating the liquid?
3. How does one know when the atomizer needs to be replaced? Does it work less efficiently or just not work at all? I've been using the same one for weeks and don't see any difference than the first day. I have two others that work the same. I don't want to chuck it if it still working correctly.

The battery also self cleans the atomizer every so often while it flashes. It leaves a burnt taste for a good while, but that is supposed to happen. You will know when the atty quits working, it just quits working. As long as it works as usual keep it. If you vap a lot it will not last long at all. I have five now but my atty burned up, well it just quit and my two spares I got online don't work either. I am awaiting Njoy to send me another.

lhntx, you said > "Is this normal for the battery to only last about an hour when I'm charging them for 10-12?"

Did you mean you charged it that long the very first time you charged a battery or every single time you charge it?
The first charge should be that long but after that you should only charge them 3- 4 hrs... Charging them longer will make them drain fast ( i dont know the technicle workings of it) only that they wont stay charged if you keep overcharging... If this is the case you may pick up a new battery or two and charge them as i said above.. You'll prolly have a whole lot better luck...

that wasnt supposed to post yet I wasnt finished lol... alllso, it it starts acting up.. Go through your check list...> as well as making sure your cart stays moist... blow out your atty/redrip once... make sure where your battery and atomizer screw together is really clean.. Your attys may run hot ( slow down on vapng if they do for a few)..But, Im pretty sure your batteries should not... keep playing around with it.. You'll figure it out...
If you hate the whole battery thing and love vaping.. if you havent already you may want to read up on a power pack ( kensington) and a passthru...That'll stay charged all day..Save your batterys

I have five batteries that I take out of the chargers each morning when I get up. As I use them up (each last about 1.5 hours - I'm basically 'chain smoking') I put the battery in a charger and get a fresh one. When that one is up I change again. By the time I go to bed I've used up 3-4 of the batteries (in about 5 hours). Each battery has been charging about 9-11 hours by the next morning, but are only lasting about 1.5 hours each. Something seems to be wrong that they only lasting this long. The oldest batteries are from the first kit that I bought in March, the youngest are from two kits that I bought earlier this month in April. They are "pilot" type e-cigs.
