Burnt taste and harsh on throat?

Hey, I've just started vaping and bought everything brand new, I have a kanger subtank mini and a Taifun Skarabeus mod only had it for a day
First few drags were okay but after that it just tasted a bit burnt and it was harsh... is it the mod being too hot? or the coils? or i didn't do something for the prep?

you trashed your wick/coil... it ran dry or you put too many volts/watts into the coil... when installing a hew wick/coil, one needs to prime the wick before applying power to it... depending on the unit, you can either put a drop or 2 of juice directly in the coil chamber or once its filled, take several draws without the power applied to pull juice into the chamber....

the mod is a mech mod and the working voltage is 3.7 - 5 and you cant change it should i change my mod?

I have a regular subtank and had the same thing happen to me. I fixed it by making sure the coil was primed. I did that by dripping 12 drops of juice on the occ coil over a minute or 2. Once a drop leaks out of the bottom of the coil it's good to go. Maybe over kill but it worked for me.

are you sure its a mech or a VV/VW mod? Mechs can only go as hi as the batterys present voltage ( 4.1- 3.2 ((lowest it should go)) ) unless it holds stacked batteries ( which isnt a normal situation)

if it is a mech, use the next higher ohmed coil...

for any sub ohm tank coil to work consistently and give you the flavor that these coils can(once primed), is to go regulated, in my opinion. Something capable of 50 watts will work, If you also want excellent battery life, choose a mod with dual 18650.

What kind of batteries are you using (Make and Model)?

I would also suggest a regulated mod. With them, you can set your Wattage and the mod will provide a consistent vape throughout the charge of the battery, unlike a mech mod, which drops off the power to the coil as the battery drains. They are also safer to use.

And make sure you get a good ohm meter when building your own coils. That way, you can check for shorts before putting them on your mod, thus avoiding having a bad day.

Yes.
Get a regulated mod so you can adjust your voltage.

if your using the rba section just change the wick

most mods will show you the ohms in some way.
some, if you push and hold one of the buttons it will show you.
some will show you volts, watts and ohms on the screen.
You can use a DVM (digital volt,ohm meter) to read the coil or buy a coil tester from a vap store/online supplier that you can screw in your tank and test it.

The common regulated mods will show you the ohms.
If you're using a mech mod you're blind;

or else you get an ohmmeter or test with a multimeter; a regulated mod is much more convenient when you are starting.

I agree with the tip of changing the coil head, and prime it for hour or so ( it even took my atlantis 2 hours sometimes) ...then you can have heavenly vape after that...
