Hi, I'm newer to vaping and I've been having issues with the taste, cloud size, and a harsh throat hit. I have a telescopic mod (Kamry 100+) that I got from a friend a while ago and last weekend I had it unscrewed so the battery wouldn't ignite but it wasn't unscrewed long enough. Needless to say that it was burning for quite some time before I noticed and the liquid had turned dark brown (it was a light gold before) and vapor smoke was pouring out of the clearomizer and it's air vents (Arctic tank). I have tried three coils since then because I know some are just bad and I am properly priming the new coils and have cleaned the tank with vodka and also hot water an have let it set overnight and it still leaves a harsh and burnt tasting hit. Is it possible that from it burning for that long it somehow tainted the tank permanently? I'm lost on what to do and have just considered buying a new tank but don't want to have to do that if it will do nothing. Any advice or knowledge would be very helpful!

Also, I apologize in advance if this is posted in the wrong place as I am new here and this is my first post

try an overnight soak in hot water, or try some denture cleaner.............
ESPECIALLY in the base unit where the airflow holes are;;; down inside there is where mucky stuff can build up

Nobody mentioned boiling it, but you might try that too; I've found it very helpful to get rid of that "machine oil" stuff that can be in new tanks or attys, or to get rid of residual ejuice odors too. I usually let it boil "softly" (just enough that the water keeps moving) for about 15-20 minutes (using distilled water is recommended), then take it out and let it cool/dry. If doing the long soak and boiling doesn't help, nothing will.

What nicotine strength are you using and what kind of juice? If you're using something like 12mg or above that could be why you're experiencing a burning sensation. I know you said you're priming your coils but if you can try letting them soak longer to see if that helps, if not then like previously stated the tank is probably shot. Also, is it an aspire atlantis or a horizontech arctic? In your original post you said an aspire arctic but they are two different tanks. The arctic with a .2 ohm coil is going to fire hot, I'd recommene getting a regulated mod so you can adjust your wattage to your liking, hope that helps mate

I use Independent Vapor Company and that's the only kind I've used at 3mg nicotine and 70% VG. It worked perfectly fine the first week and then since the issue I had with it continuously burning it's been tasting bad and harsh. I let the latest coil I've tried sit for 8 hours in fluid before trying so from what everyone hassuggested I think that the ones who say the tank is shot are probably right. Thanks a ton though!

By the way, what type of mod would recommend? Ive been looking into a Sigelei 100W or a 150W. I know a couple guys at my local vape shop that have one and they swear by it. I would like to have an idea of reliable companies for future reference until I am more familiar with the world of vaping.

I dunno about their high-watt mods, but Sigelei makes excellent quality mods. I've been using my Sigelei Zmax pretty regularly for well over a year, and it's just as good now as it was when I bought it. Though I've gone for box mods this year, I still use my Sigelei for maintenance (dry burning, etc), and it's a very dependable backup.

After soaking it in Everclear for an entire day and then letting it all dry for one day as well it fixed most of the harsh taste. I ended up going to my local shop and we came to the conclusion that it was the mod causing the problem for some reason. I ended up buying a Smoke XPro M80 Plus and I'm very happy with it. I want to thank all of you for your help and advice as it had helped with the harshness and it will pay off in the future as I continue to vape!

I'm a big fan of the Sig150. Very reliable device with a good bit of safety features, and more power than you'll probably need.

I have a ipv3 and just ordered the sig150 for $69 bucks. I couldn't pass that deal up. Regarding the burnt taste, Ive found that happens to me if I have the temp to far up and on a few occasions Ive gotten bad coils and/or didnt prime it right and burnt it up immediately.
