I went thru a lot of Nautilus coils, but only because I used 5 of the tanks with different juices and vaped heavily for months with them. The only time I got a dry hit was when I wasn't paying attention and let the tank run dry.

When I swapped out a coil I would change the coil and fill the tank. Then with the tank I would cover the air holes with a finger and take a few good draws WITHOUT POWER to create suction and pull the juice into the wick. After each draw I would check to see the air bubbles from the wick holes. I repeated this process 3 or 4 times. Then I usually let the tank sit for 5 minutes. It worked for me.

It's possible you have gotten some bad coils. I never "cleaned" my coils until they were gunked up. Even when swapping juice I would clean the tank and just use a paper towel to wipe off the bottom part with the coil. Usually after 3 or 4 hits with the new filled tank the old juice flavor disappeared as the new juice was wicked into the coil. I would still take a few unpowered draws for prime to be on the safe side.

After a coil got "gunked up" I would take it and put it in a small glass jar with some vodka and let it soak for a few days to a wee, giving the jar a shake every now and then. Then I would take the coil out, blow it off and let it air dry for a day as the vodka evaporated. It didn't make the coil like new but I did get a lot more mileage out of them. The Nautilus coils can be rebuilt/coiled, check you tube if interested.
Thanks. I've been using the method you're talking about where you plug the air flow and draw in. I'll try the vodka. People have been telling me it's the best way to clean them out

Don't clean the coils so often, you're going to mess up the wick which is what sounds like what happened. Bad wicks lead to dry hits which are always awful and can start to ruin the rest of the juice in the tank. If I were you I would toss out the juice you already have in there, thoroughly clean the tank and put a new coil on
The reason I started cleaning them was because of the cad taste. I'll try new juice

Haha I hope you wouldn't shart in my mouth. I usually soak them in water and let them dry out for a couple hours before putting it back in

No, I am a nice little devil :sneaky: ---- I think you are ruining your coils with the cleaning ---- You could have gotten burnt hits at first for a number of reasons. Try priming a new coil with ejuice, then install the new coil and adjust your power to it's lowest setting. Take a few blasts off the thing and then increase your power by a couple of watts and take several more toots off the thing. Slowly increase your power until you reach a point where it starts tasting off/bad, then back down on the power a tad and you will be at the limit of the coil/wick.

I've tried everything. No matter what I do, I get a nasty burnt taste after 5 or more hits. I clean my tank out regularly and sometimes I try and salvage a coil By cleaning it after a day of use. It might sound stupid but Cleaning the coils only makes it worse.

I now have to run at 3.3 volts and 6.0 watts on the MVP 20 watt. The lowest possible settings and I still have the same problem. I use the 1.8 ohm BVC coils. The air flow is all the way open. Juice is always 50/50

I let a new coil sit for 5 minutes and give it a primer puff or two before vaping
I don't know what else to do. I had a friend try it just in case I had imagined it all. He gagged and compared to "Satan sharting in your mouth" so it's not just me. I'm at a loss here.
My nautilus mini's are the most reliable tanks I have. I vape naturally extracted tobaccos and desert flavors and both are rough on coils. I typically replace them every two to three days and 4 days is long for me, I don't tolerate a funky tasting coil at all. I don't try to clean, it cleans the wick some but you can't get gunk off the coil without dry burning and you can only do that with no wicks on an RBA. I put in a new coil on my subtank mini and primed it thoroughly the other day and got the nastiest harshest taste ever, you do get bad coils sometimes.

The reason I started cleaning them was because of the taste. I do prime them and I'm already at the lowest power settings :/

Once you burn the wick it is best to empty out all of the e juice from the tank and throw it away because it is corrupted with bad flavor. Also, you will need to flush and clean out your entire tank before putting a new coil and any new e juice back into it. It is sometimes difficult to get rid of that burnt taste and so make sure you clean the tank good before placing new e juice or a new coil back into it. It's difficult to say why you burned your wick to begin with but once a wick gets burned you may as well throw it and the coil out because you will never get rid of the rotten flavor.

I figured out that I got a bad package of coils. I just got new ones and they're way better. The bad taste of the old ones was leading me to clean them in the first place

hey --- glad you figured it out :) nah, you don't have to clean the pre packaged coils --- just use them for a few weeks until you get crappy flavor or until your vapor production decreases.
