Ok everyone. Please don't crucify me over this because I know for a fact there are a bunch of posts on this. The problem is I can't find em.

Anyway, does anyone have any helpful tips for getting rid of the god awful burnt taste from a new atty. It is disgusting. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks fellow vapers!!

Blow them out from both ends. The primer fluid is nasty. Then....if you have some, you could vape about 2-3 drops of pure VG...it's basically tasteless and will neutralize any taste that's in there. You could soak them in alcohol, rinse them, then let them dry...but you'd need to let them dry overnight. Blow them out...both ends. That's my recommendation.

Yep. Same thing happened to me. I bought a Titan from Totally Wicked and didn't have any burnt taste what so ever. I didn't know what everyone was referring to. However, I just got a 5 pack of LR attys from Liberty Flights and yuck!! The first one I unwrapped tasted like I was chewing on a burnt log. Still does. I really need to get rid of this taste. I'll check those sticky's. Thanks!

If it's a brand new atty it comes shipped with usually a nasty primer that just needs to be blown out from both sides into a paper towel then add 2 to 3 drops of your eliquid to reprime it. If you let the atty run dry and have a burnt taste no matter how much eliquid you add and it just wont go away then blow it out from both sides, drop the atty in a glass of vodka over night. Next morning stir it around, pull it out of the glass and blow out the vodka from both sides. Place the atty in a fresh glass of vodka for a few more hours, stir it, pull it out of the glass, blow it out from both sides and let it sit on a paper towel for about 4 hours with the battery connector side up. After the 4 hours check to see if it has dried by blowing on both sides. Let it sit longer if needed or add 3 to 4 drops of your eliquid and wait a few minutes to soak in. Usually there is still a little vodka left inside and you will have to puff on it a few times to burn that taste away and get your flavor back. If you are still experiencing the same burnt taste then you may want to try boiling your atomizer.

Sweet. Thanks Ace.

No problem.... sometimes when I don't leave it to dry long enough it floods the atty and takes awhile before the vodka is burnt out AND I can start to enjoy a clean tasting atty again. Keep in mind on the LR atty (for me at least) that they burn hotter so not only did it make the vapor warmer tasting and hard to tell when it was time to reprime(with some flavors), but it also would suck up some eliquid quicker than it could wick. I would definitely suggest dripping when you can, because for me it wasn't wicking fast enough even though the cart was almost totally full.

I just made this comment a min. ago on another thread. Some people on here can post something from another thread or a link to it immediatly. I wish I knew how they do that. Maybe some one will read this and tell us how to keep track of the important threads or messages.:2cool::vapor:

That's exactly whats happening. The cart is full but like you said I don't think it's wicking fast enough. I would do the dripping thing but don't really know how. I mean I know you just put 3 - 4 drops right on the atty and puff but I tried it once and I wasn't really crazy about it. Maybe I was doing something wrong. I'll give it another shot.

Yeah. I wish I knew how. I did a search on "burnt" and "taste" and "atty" and got like a million hits. After looking through about 20 posts I gave up and started a new thread. :)

You never know what a new atty has on it and some have a horrible tasting primer fluid. So you blow out the atty into a tissue - put your mouth on a smooth round open end and blow. Then you have choices.

1. Wet the atty bridge with juice pretty well (3 drops or so) and vape it off without inhaling (you may want to use a totally empty dummy cartridge for this - maybe one came on your atty)
or
2. soak/swish in alcohol for a while, scoop some alcohol through it, shake out and dry (blow through it or use blow dryer)
or
3. The more dangerous way - try a burn off if you have manual batteries - put atty on the battery and pointing it away from your face hold the button until you see a wisp of vapor or hear a sputter/sizzle (nut no more than 4 secs and do not glow an atty to red). Then do again 1-2 times. This can strain the atty as well as possibly shoot sputtering hot liquid at you so only do with caution. I prefer to do #1 or #2

when you "alcohol clean" your atties it can take up to 10 drops or so to get good vapor going again......the 2-3 drops needed for normal dripping is not enough to properly prime up a clean/dry atty. If you have already cleaned your atty and still not tasting right add 2 drops at a time each time you get the burnt taste until you get a good vape. After that you will be ok with the normal 2-3 drop top-off. On a freshly cleaned atty I start with 5 drops to prime, if the flavor doesnt seem right I add 2 drops every couple vapes until it comes around.

What i do is first blow out the primer fluid. Usually nothing comes out, but it is still in there- you can smell it. Then I put four drops of new juice, let sit ten mins, blow out. It seems like a waste of juice to blow out the atty all the time, but it helps. Then put two drops, and vape. Even if it's dry, the atty still makes vapor, if less. Also, i like to vape a lot so i switch between two attys, and two flavors, and let the dry one cool down before dripping more juice.

Use Google to search, instead of ECF. You'll find what you're looking for quicker. Or you can use the Advanced Search here and use the drop-down box to change to "Search Titles Only," if you want to search here. That will help to find what you're looking for easier. I prefer Google, though.

After blowing out some of the primer, you can soak the atomizer in hot water (you don't need any kind of alcohol -- hot water works fine) for a few minutes to rinse off the rest of the primer that doesn't get blown out, and then blow the excess water out, so the atty will dry quicker. It will dry completely in a few hours, or you can use Highping's Resurrection Method to do a dry burn (which is also helpful to do when you need to burn off the caked up crap that builds up inside the atty over time).

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/69834-my-atty-resurrection-method.html

After I rinse out my atties and let them dry, I'll drip five drops, blow lightly, and then add 3 more drops. This is the perfect amount of drops usually. Then add three more drops after about nine vapes (or when you detect a slight burning taste).

If you direct drip I would suggest removing the threads from the atty that are used to wick the liquid from the carts. I see that you use carts, but thought this might be a good suggestion for those that do drip like me.

Just use a pair of tweezers and gently remove the threads. Works great!

I want to give that a try I'm just afraid of ripping the wick out. Afraid I might wreck the atty. I'm gonna practice on a dead one I have first. Good idea though. Thanks.

If you don't have any luck with the methods people have posted there's a good chance you might just have bad attys. It's happened to me twice and no matter what I did...nothing could fix the burnt taste.
