Hi all. I just got my kit in the mail and with both attys, initial few mins were fine, but after 5mins of vaping I got the burnt taste. Exact same thing happened with he 2nd atty.

I have a few questions:
1) why am I getting the burnt taste so quickly despite doing everything I'm supposed to do like blow out primer, align the cart, etc?
2) what happens if I accidentally dry out my atty and try to vape? Will it destroy my atty?
3) i got zero throat hit. Is it the fault of the dekang marlb stock prefilled cartridge? Or something else?

Thanks

Hey skywalk I will try to answer you questions

1. you still have a dry atty its not wicking properly
2 yes/no if you keep vaping a dry atty it will heat up and kill it
3. that is hard to say, but from the sounds of it.. this seems to be the reason for your first two questions

carts seem to be a common hassle... you do need to make sure it is "juiced up" (not flooding, but really moist) also you will most likely eliminate your problem if you at least drip 2-3 drops of liquid directly into the atty...even if you plan on strictly using carts.

Maybe they use crappy material for wicking. Are you dripping 2 drops on the atty to prime it? If so it might be the wick has burnt. You could remove the wick but I would do some research on removing wick before trying it.

 good advice here - 'prime' the atty with a couple drops of e-juice - keep it moist at all times. You'll have to do this 'often' .. probably more often than you like.... I do it as soon as I notice the a decrease in my vapor or when the atty begins to get too warm. Hassle tho' this may be, it's 'cheaper' than buying new atty's every few days.... :p

doesn't this all defeat the purpose of even having a cart?? it seems like the only way to keep from getting the burnt taste is to direct drop since it's the liquid in the atty that DOESN'T get the "taste"... i spend a lot of time driving and can't direct drop and haven't been successful with the straw or spring mod YET... seems to make a huge mess and waste more of the liquid than i get to vape... please help!!

oh and my new 801 arrived yesterday i love it except for the burnt taste... do those mods work on the 801 penstyle? i haven't tried them on it yet... is there a tutorial link for the mods still?? maybe i'm just doing it wrong (i have been accused of that before!) and need to see the step by step again

I use the scratchy pad for cartridge filler-----
I used spring mod for the longest time,
but now only use the scratchy pad for filler - ( mine is Pink ):)
I have no problems with leaking liquid, and or wicking problems---------

Never never never vape the cart dry! The most important thing to remember is to keep that cart and atty moist at all times. I remember when I started vaping (801) I got that kinda funky burnt taste. Sure enouff, had vaped everything drier than the desert. Learned in a hurry never to do that again. :p A couple of drops on the atty now and then is a must. Good luck to you!

You may want to consider getting a DPV9 for driving. Just pop on a new cartomizer when you run out. This is worth it for such a small investment. EM sells the blank cartoz as well so you can fill with your favorite juice.

For ease of use, and absolute convenience,

you just cannot go past the DPV9 or DPV9 carty on your indulgence ----

no muss, no fuss, just screw it on, and go for 3 hours,

BUT ----- The Golden Rule Still Applies --------

Don't vape it Dry !!!!!! 8-o8-o
Refill before it gets dried out, Always...
