Burnt taste

I have a problem regarding my joyetech evic aio. I don't have a tank on it. It's just the regular kit. Basically, I threw it in my backpack and didn't grab for about an hour or so. When I pulled it out it smelled like it had caught on fire. I pulled the coil out and it was completely black. After changing the coil and the juice I still get a really harsh burnt taste while hitting it. Any ideas on what to do?

Ps: I'm new to vaping so I'm aware this might be a dumb question

Clean the tank out really good if need be use high content rubbing alcohol

Watts or TC, what tank and coil, and range on coil.

Did you turn off the device before throwing it into your back-pack?

The coils that come in the kit are vastly different than one another, therefore require different power levels. Always prime the coil and start at a ridiculously low power then work it up every few puffs. Cheers.

I have to agree with @Hitmetwice that it sounds like it was not powered off when it was in your backpack which could be dangerous. Lucky it was only a fried coil I remember seeing pictures of a user who dropped in it his car and melted his tank because it got caught under the parking brake handle.

you might not be able to get the smell out, if you've toasted the insulators... lesson learned about turning things off sadly.
