Burnt tongue

Hi! I made a previous post about how my juice started out great and now I can't taste it. I poked around here and have seen other posts about the same thing. That completely describes how my mouth feels. It feels like I have scalded it with my hot coffee!! Is there a right or wrong way to vape? I have noticed in the umpteen you tubes that I have watched that they stick more of the tip in their mouth. I tried to do that and I can taste it on the back of my tongue. Am I burning my tongue? I really want to figure out what I am doing wrong because I love it!! Thanks for your help!!!

I looked back at your other post and, yep, burning your tongue could definitely be causing you to loose flavor. Turn down your voltage/wattage (whichever you're going by) and when you draw make it a slow, easy draw. Don't suck hard as if it were a cigarette. Go check the blogs and/or the Stickies. There's an explanation of how to inhale when you're vaping. Hope this helps.

P.S. It may take a day or two for your tongue to heal up from getting burned so don't expect immediate results.

There is very much a right or wrong way to vape but let me start by asking, how are you vaping? What device what atomizer and ohms also how many watts or volts if you are using a regulated device?
While it might have something to do with that it could simply be too much nicotine or various other things.

Also... what PG/VG ratio are you vaping? Though I always stick with 83%-84% PG, when I vaped 90% PG for about a week, it seriously burnt my throat and sinuses, and many people seem to be quite sensitive to this chemical-burn effect from PG, even in very small quantities like 50/50.

I am using an istick 20 and nautilus mini at 8w. I am using 50/50 12 mg nic.

Hmmm... I know that iStick20 runs hot; is that the lowest setting it can do? Because 8w on that mod is more like 9 or 9.5w on any other mod, maybe even more. You didn't say what resistance you're using, but that can have an impact too; lower resistance generally means greater heat.

But I'd look seriously at the PG as a possible culprit; you may just be one of those not-rare unfortunates who are very sensitive to PG, perhaps intolerant. I personally have more trouble with VG, but after that burning effect I experienced at 90% PG, I don't discount the potential for sensitivity to PG. Maybe try some max-VG, which I think is about 80% VG, is that right, all you max-VG vapers? If you get any feeling of heaviness, tightness, congestion in your lungs with that, then you might have to back off the VG a little at a time until you find a comfort zone, but the chest problems from VG are somewhat less prevalent than the irritation from PG.

PS: I just noticed, you got here around the same time I did, you lurker you! :D Welcome to the chatter, glad you stopped lurking, and sorry it had to be a major problem that coaxed you out of hiding! :thumb:

It just occurred to me, a really good line of ejuice that's all high-VG, is Pipe Sauce. Their Oak Barrel Cider is excellent, very apple-y, and their Long Bottom Leaf is great, very smoky but sweet and yummy; I think all theirs are 90%-95% VG, so I can't do more than taste them or my breathing goes to hell, but those are some good juices.
