So I am enjoying my Safe Cig, but from reading these forums the past few days, I feel like it's inadequate compared to the ego or other 510s. Is this exaggerated? Does the 510 produce significantly more vapor and throat hit (my main concern right now), or will getting some new liquid help with that?

I wish I had found this forum BEFORE I bought my first ecig. :(

Join the club -- I had the SS No. 7 Classic, a 3-piece RN4081 :)

What matters is whether it works for you -- if it does, then good enough should be good enough.

In my case I switched to KR808D-1, PIF'd my 3 piece -- the 4081 let me know that there was good potential, but just didn't quite work for me.

Experimenting with different juices, and/or adjusting the nicotine strength in the liquid you use, can definitely help.

Good luck!

Ecigs are like liquid, they are up to the user as to which one the user likes best. The 510 is the one I started with but I have since moved to varable voltage. Hindsight is 20/20 and If I would have known Id of started with high voltage mods. If you like your PV then use it until you outgrow it and want more.

I love it as compared to smoking. It is definitely cutting back on my desire for regular smokes. My only complaint is that it doesn't seem to produce enough vapor, definitely not like I've seen in some of the videos of people vaping. If I puff it more than 8 times in a minute or for longer than 5 seconds, it cuts off and needs to be connected to a charger before it will work again, which is annoying.

Yes, juice will affect things....both TH and vapor. The juice or the filled carts that come with these things is usually not great. If you order some great juice from an American vendor....you should see a difference. You know, you have to start somewhere. Don't be remorseful about your purchase.....learn on it....learn how to do stuff, learn what you like about it (size, looks, vapor, TH) and what you don't. Then when you're ready to upgrade, you can get a 510 or an eGo or something, and pass this one along to someone else as his/her "first" PV. I started with a little RN4081 and it served me well. What i didn't like was that it only held about 4 drops of liquid at a time. After a few weeks, I passed it along to my sister and I ordered a 510. There really is a difference, but without my RN4081, I'm not sure I would have appreciated the 510 as much as I did. LOL. After that I pretty much had the hang of everything and knew I liked the 510....the only problem was I was constantly charging batteries, so I got the eGo. That's my story. I don't regret the RN4081...and it worked for my sister, too. We all have to start somewhere. You may learn to love that little thing....esp. if it's responsible for getting you off analogs. Get you some good juice with a mixture of PG for the throat hit and VG for the vapor.....and enjoy. When you're ready to move on, a 510 kit is only about $35 or so....and an eGo/Riva in the $50 range.....save up, shop around, and get your second PV. Before it's over, believe me, you'll have more than one anyway.....and more than two.....and probably more than three.....four.....

I see you have cartomizers....they hold more. Get some juice and you'll see a big difference.

I haven't used the safe cig so I can't comment on it's performance. But if it works for you that's all that matters. If I were you I wouldn't worry to much, just take any saving you are making and put them aside so that if you want you can step up to a really nice mod if you feel the need for something better. I was lucky and found this site and started with the 510 it worked and I got a bunch of my friends to try it and the KR808 at well. However, both me and my friends all hit the point were the size of the e-cig or appearance didn't matter as much as the performance. Once you hit that point and I think most people do, a good mod is the way to go. Sense you found this site too late to start with a 510 you can at least skip that step and make the jump to something even better. The reason mods are so much supperior is that you get more power. Longer lasting cheaper replaceable batteries and higher voltage that really makes a huge difference.

As for liquids that is completely an individual taste thing. My only advice is to stay away from dark colored liquids high in VG. They gum up your atties or cartomizers quickly, reducing the life of the atty or quickly leave it with a burnt taste that is difficult to get out without extensive cleaning. The cleaning also reduces the life of the atties.

Good luck and congrats on making the switch.

The cutout sounds weird, though. A cutout is pretty normal, nut it shouldn't require hooking back up to a charger before you can use the battery again. For instance, my 808s will flash a couple times, then stop, but I can use them again almost immediately.

Yeah, I don't get the purpose of it. It's what it does though. It even describes the behavior in the manual. I've already had to reset it twice.

Hi -

I have 4 egos (650 mAh, 900mAh, 650 pass-through),a Bartably box mod, a 5V 901 pass-through and 3 rn4081's. I use the rn4081's when I am at work because they are small and put out less vapor and thus are discreet. The batteries are underpowered - but the atomizers and cheap cartomizers I buy for them are very good. Fact is I have yet to find a 510 cartomizer I prefer to my rn4081s (and right now I have 5 different kinds of 510 cartomizers). I use 510/rn4081 and 901/rn4081 adapters so I can use my rn4081 cartomizers with everything I own. (adapters are little pieces of metal with the screw fittings of different batteries and atomizers so they can fit together - they are cheap). So I would say you made a good start - look around and if your battery is not lasting as long as you want - buy a bigger one and an adapter - and also try different automizers and cartomizers if you like. But as a start I would say you did good.

Is there a good store for batteries for the RN4081? I would love to try a manual one.

I bought mine at azsmokefree and they are a good supplier - very reliable good prices - but though they have colored auto rn4081's the only manual one they carry is white with red ltd.
