Hi!

At this point im vaping on a Kangertech Kbox mini with the toptank mini. Buying pre-made 1.2ohm coils for my rba head....
i really enjoy this vape but i cant get my head and eyes of tje REO grand and the squonking.....

My question is: Is it a must to be some sort of hobby electritcian and make my own coils or can i buy pre-made coils with say 0.8 ohm and screw it in a reomizer 2.0, wick it, fill it and vape?

Is it that "easy" or must i have more knowledge?

Hello Pluring,

As it stands, you'd have to get into rebuilding.

Originally the Reos were designed for premade 510 atomizers from Joye. But they are out of production
by now, and i'm not even sure you can get the 1.5 ohm version any longer.

It's not rocket science though... and you don't have to be a hobby electrician.
Sure it takes a little bit of research... reading up on batteries and safety in mooch's blog and Baditudes blog (also good info for beginning mech and RBA users in bad's blog), watching a couple rebuilding vids on youtube.

But it's really rewarding. Once you are up and running, you have a
setup with a fantastic vape quality and reliability.

Also the Reonauts are a really knowledgeable and helpful community,
that will more than gladly assist you, should you have any questions
or problems.

I came in to sub Ohming with very little knowledge. As long as you know the safety issues, and have a few simple tools, it is cheap and easy to make your own coils.

I couldn't get the resistance I wanted from 26ga kanthal wire so I watched a 3 minute video and with a drill, 3mm allen wrench and a pair of pliers I twisted some kanthal together. Easy peasy. It can be as simple as you want it or if it becomes a hobby you can get as fancy as you want it.

Best advice is to not over think it and just do it. Installing a coil you made yourself and having it work perfectly is a very satisfying reward. There is nothing wrong with prebuilt coils, but making your own will save some pennies and you may be surprised at how much you enjoy the process.

It is THAT easy... Make sure to order a few extra "hot springs" and some extra screws for the RM2.

Have fun

Thanks, I had good people on this forum give me advice. Love this place!

just remember... this is an unregulated mod... get the right battery and know what you're doing as everyone has said with safety. while I still use my pro tank 4... my dripbox for squonking is now my mainstay.

Safety can't be stressed enough. Of all the things I've reserched the most, safety is paramount. And I use regulated mods. Still don't want to injure myself by pushing a mod or battery beyond it's limits.

You can use either pre-made or homemade coils in a Reomizer RDA.

I use a Reomizer version 10 (Velocity-style posts) on my Reo Grand. I make my own coils (two 1.2 ohm coils for a total of 0.6 ohm); you can use single or dual coils. I use Steam Engine's calculator to know how many wraps to make a certain ohm coil. I recommend either 26 or 28 gauge kanthal wire. I like making coils of 3.0 mm diameter because they are easier to wick.

As others have said, just make sure the battery you're using has enough amps (continuous discharge rate) to fire the resistance (ohm) coils you are using. This is Ohm's Law. You should own an ohm reader to measure the resistance of you coil.

It amazes me how many people still avoid wrapping coils , i think everybody is intimidated at first but i can say with certainty it's much much easier than it looks .

Sites like Steam engine will tell you how many wraps you will need of a certain diameter wire to reach the specific ohm range you want .

You do not need a coil wrapper either , drill bits or hobby screwdriver shafts work fine , the key is being able to see well up close, (readers are needed) for many of us.

If you can wrap string around a straight stick and keep the coils closely spaced you can wrap coils no problem.

this is the one I'm looking at, as it will do most of what i want build wise... just looking at what it's like for flavour now, since clouds aren't that important to me. one in this style makes it easier to change out those bought coils.

Transformer RDA Atomizer | Vaporesso

Those "do it all" type products may be able to do a lot more than others but it's exceedingly rare they do it well .

Kind of like those do everything flashlights with built in am/fm radio , car flashers , strobe lights etc...

Keep it simple lol.

i know, but from what I'm reading... it does... well enough to make me happy. I've seen a few others and they didn't have the appeal of this one. it's fairly cheap, allows for both post and postless builds, flavour and clouds, basically for someone who is learning and wants to figure out what they like best... it's perfect.

Hi Pluring.

You don't have to Wind your own Coils if you don't want to. Many people (like Myself) just buy Pre-Coiled Coils.

$1.93 Pre-Coiled Wires for RBA RDA RTA Rebuildable Atomizers (50-Pack) 50-pack - 26 AWG / 0.8ohm / 0.4mm dia. / 15*15mm leads / 7 loops at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Putting a Pre-Coiled Coil into an RDA and then Wicking it with Cotton is Not hard. Especially if you use Cotton Pads. And after you do it a Few Times, you will be able to do it in your sleep.

I don't have any Experience with a Reomizer. But all RDA's work pretty much the same way. And you don't need more than an Understanding of Ohms Law to be able to know what type of Amps you are asking your Battery to provide. And a way to Measure the Ohms of a build you do. Like with a Regulated Mod. Or a Ohm/Volt reader.

It's a wise person that understands the importance of options..
