The notcigs site recommends 16340s but, I think those are equivalent to rcr123a. The buzz pro has built in battery protection circuits so it's one of the few mods that allow you to use unprotected batteries safely. Buzzkill recommends the Powerizer batteries he sells. That's not much of a surprize but, if you look in the noticigs forum, there is a battery study that supports that. What was surprising about that study is that it finds there isn't that much difference between the more well known brands.

I'm planning to order a Buzz Pro, and I asked him about using protected batteries. He insists it isn't necessary, that the Buzz Pro has protection built in. But he says protected batteries will work.

I'm going to use protected batteries. Nothing against him, and I don't know anything about batteries and such, but the stories about batteries exploding a PV right in front of your face when you're taking a hit make me think "better safe than sorry". Having protection built into the unit and the batteries both sounds like a good plan.

The original Buzz batteries (Ultrafire 16340's 3.6v) are protected batts and fit just as well as the Powerizer (unprotected 123a 3.6v) batts. There's about a mm difference in height between the two. The Powerizer batteries are also a true 650mah batt. While the UF's actually show a rating of about 300-400mah.

Yes, but essentially the same, and the same, are not the same. :)

Protected batteries are longer. In some cases, that could mean there isn't physically enough room inside for protected batteries.

ok, i own a buzz and a buzz pro.
I have both 16340s & rcr123a & they both work in my buzz and my buzz pro.

so yes, they are essentially the same size battery. i am speaking from owning both the mods and the batteries.
any questions, please pm me.

Also...........before your batteries "blow up", they will leak. Alas, why there are holes toward the bottom of the buzz..........to let the leaking out & warn you. Your mod will also get HOT before it "blows up".

Your mod is not gonna just blow up in your face without warning you.

...........just keeping it real & telling it like it is.............just like I always do :)
