I figured I would start a thread for all the first timers to the rare gems that are BWB RY4 and E-Joker.
I am not new to the RY4 but I have not tried E-Joker yet, but will very soon.

Let this be the place where we commiserate with are treats. I hope this thread will stay alive long enough for us to all check back once we get our gifts!

SOON AND VERY SOON.....plus a few (better yet 10) days of "steeping" or aging! :pop:

Made my first order this week from BWB. Got ejoker, ry4 and a huge bottle of malty toffee. I'm a bit concerned as I've read that it needs a lot of steeping time - read somewhere like 2 months. Can't wait till it arrives... wondering if there is another way to bring the flavors out without waiting so long. Any suggestions?

Did you get both? I can tell you there is a big difference from day 1 to 5 to 10. Oddly enough when I first got BWB RY4 I didn't care for it so much, then I went on to literally salivating at the thought of it. That occured at about day 7-8. It is kinda funny, because now I long for how it tasted on day one. See the thing is, the most elusive day is right out of the mailbox. That vape really only last a short amount of time. The flavors are all there on day one but more colors of the flavors start to come alive after about a week. Eventually it tapers off and becomes all it will be; but, all it is, was, and will ever be is DAMN GOOD!

Obviously this thread can be for the experienced RY4 and E-Joker vapers, but I wanted a place where the last initiates could come and congregate.

As far as steeping, just put it away in a dark drawer for a week or so. Some people say shake it up vigorously everyday, but I think it is more about patience. IMO

Don't judge it too fast, trust me!

2 months? No! I think I can safely say, though Don could tell you better, nothing BWB sells needs 2 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heck, you'll be lucky if it lasts a month!

I don't think you should force steep it. Be careful because you won't get a second chance at this. Patience, patience, patience....and then after a week check it out.

I want to put an emphasis on the word "needs", some people may like it better after two months, but is a matter of taste. But "needs" is a pretty strong word!

The RY4 to Me is Best after one month steeping then it won't last a week, now the E-Joker really needs some serious steeping in my opnion. after the 30 days it was SOOOO good but I let it steep another 30 days and WOW, thats all I can say!!!

Bill i got a bottle bought from a guy here , these have a born date of november last year :) waaaaaaay different to how is "freash" or a month steeping.

I guess everyone is different. I got a bottle here of RY4 from 3/28/12 and I don't think it taste better, necessarily, than two weeks in, but it is more mellow and slightly sweeter. I think under three weeks it has a little more bite to it.

All of this being said, "day one, one week, two weeks, one month, two months" etc. is actually all irrelevant due to the fact that "steeping" does not mean you can't take it out of the drawer whenever you want and drip it on to an atty to check. When I first started out, for some reason I thought that "steeping" (I really just want to call it aging) meant that you couldn't take the top off and try it. Chances are, it is going to change while you are in the process of vaping it from day to day. So, don't worry about any time limits per se, except that you may want to use is sparingly due to its unavailability. However, as a general rule of thumb, it does get better from week to week.

As for E-Joker, I will probably drip it every seventh day and log it in to chronicle its changes.

Okay, so I need to revise some things here. I just obtained a bottle of RY4 from a friend here on ECF (a rare being who was impervious to the magic spell that is BWB RY4). The date of this bottle is 3/8/12 and I have another that I got on the classifieds that was born on 3/28/12. The 3/8/12 seems to have a grit and bite of the tobacco (marvelous) that is reminiscent of a fresher bottle and the 3/28/12 bottle is definitely sweeter. I was under the impression that once it aged more it continued to sweeten and then taper off. I didn't think I could get that much of a tobacco bite from the older bottle...

Both are awesome, but different in a way. I guess this just proves the point that no one "steep" time is necessarily going to make it better or worse. I guess it just gets better with time???!!!

Amendment* Maybe two months is the bomb...but so is the newborn!

p.s. has anyone else noticed this? Maybe the big homie ***Don***, or ***Whiskey*** can chime in.

Mr.Mann,

Great idea for a thread. I'd never tried BWB's RY4 before. But I had heard so much about it. So when I saw that they were bringing it back for a limited engagement, I had to place an order (thanks again Don and Whiskey for your generosity and understanding).

So I'll be coming back here on occasion to view others review and to voice my own opinions.

A question for all the BWB RY4 veterans; Does putting the bottle in a cup of hot water help speed up the steeping?

Basically what Roxxette said, and what I said in a previous post, "I don't think you should force steep it. Be careful because you won't get a second chance at this. Patience, patience, patience....and then after a week check it out."

"Steeping" occurs whether you are trying it daily or not. So, unless you plan on vaping it all the first day you will experience the mythical steep. I plan on having mine for at least 3 months!!!

p.s. Shake it up well! I shake the bottles up till I see all those little magnificent bubbles in the liquid!

Roxxette & MrMann, thanks for the invaluable insight. I'll do my best and not "drink the wine before it's time". I'm almost 50 with 3 adolescent/teenager kids, so I think I can muster up some patience, lol! Tho I might drip some along the way, just for reference. Can't hurt... right?

Mr.Mann, I so agree! To test different flavors I run my Don with a Kick. That way I can adjust the power to evaluate the best taste to power setting. When I'm not on my Don, I run a 801HP with a drip tip to see how that tastes. So, as we all are, I'm searching for vaping nirvana. What makes my journey exciting and rewarding is the fact that I'm not smoking anymore. From here on in it's all good... right?
