Hi Op, Interested in a ballpark price for a desk caddy to hold 3 tube mods, space for maybe a box mod and a bottom drawer. Something lined to keep from scratching bottom of mod when I rest them. Not sure exactly how you would piece something like that together but open to suggesions. PM me.. doesn't have to be a firm quote just kind of fishing to see if I can afford and if what you have would be a good idea. Something smallish would be good for my desk space.

Thanks!

Hey Rick, how goes it? I like the idea of a drawer also, and have been asked about it a few times, but, just can't see a way of doing it that is easily done. It would take a different type of build. But who knows, maybe someday an idea will pop into my thick skull. :) I guess it would be easier, if I made just one or two different size caddies, or a one size fits all, but each one I make is a little different, depending on what the person wants. But every once in a while I do give it some thought.

Hi Paul,
Hey, I got an idea. Make a single independent drawer chest then set 'our' caddys on top of it. Give the drawer chest's top a slight indentation so the caddy wouldn't slide off. :)
If you have a milling machine or a good high speed drill press, you could cut the chest out of a solid block of wood then build a small drawer for it. Heck, you could even mill a drawer out of a solid block of wood, for that matter.
Keep it simple with no clued on parts, just a solid block with a hole milled in the side of it and a drawer to fit it.

I've thought of doing something like that, and I may try one when I get some spare time to mess with it. But I think to do it, I would have to have standard sized blocks, which might be a good idea in itself. That way I could have some blanks made up to pull off the shelf. I just have to sit down and figure what size those blocks should be. :)
By the way, did that link to the MRR forum help you out? I particularily like to look in the weekly photo sub forum.

No, I haven't signed up over there as of yet. Been kinda busy with a couple other projects at present. (You know how that goes. :))
I'm just now finishing up a 3 foot NG Side Dump Ballast Car.
I'm about to start another locomotive, an old Porter, 0-4-0ST. Either the Falk #1 or The Gypsy and need as much information as I can get on them. I thought I'd sign up when I start that model.
I know the Gazette had one or both a number of years ago but I lost all my issues in a fire.

DSCN0102.jpg I'm sure that this picture does not do the caddy justice but I cannot believe how well made and beautiful this caddy is. Thank you so very much. It's custom to my mods and they just fit perfect.

*Will try to take a better photo - I've got no skills w/ the camera.
