Just got this note from the State Tax Board...looks like we're headed for a drop of 1% come first of next month. We're in an area that's assessed quite a bit lower than LA or Orange counties already, at 8.75% for sales shipped to California. First of July, we're down to 7.75%.

This will not affect out of state shipments, those sales aren't taxed. (It's the responsibility of the purchaser to pay his/her state's "use" tax once the products are received).

*California Statewide Sales and Use Tax Rate *
*to Decrease by 1% on July 1, 2011 *
*Statewide Base Tax Rate Decreases from 8.25% to 7.25% *
Effective July 1, 2011, the one percent sales and use tax rate increase that
was approved with the state budget and effective April 1, 2009, will expire
lowering the statewide base tax rate from 8.25 percent to 7.25 percent. In
areas where there are voter-approved district taxes, the total tax rate
related to sales and purchases will be the statewide base tax rate of 7.25
percent plus the applicable district tax. (See the California Sales and Use
Tax Rates by County and City
)

Little bump to this one....changes have been made. Purchases made that ship to California mailing addresses now taxed at a base level of 7.25%. We're in one of the cheaper areas of California with all the special assessments to taxes by County. We only add another half a percent here, unlike some LA and Orange County cities (like Santa Monica)....who are tipping 10%.

7.75%.....until the Governor does something silly. ;)
