I vape almost exclusively minty flavors. My all day #1 flavor is a what I call Sweet Creme Menthol Mint Candy. If you like minty flavors then there is a good chance you will enjoy it. I can't seem to get off of it or even desire to try anything else right now. I'd like to see some other recipes of mint based flavors without any tobacco flavor added.

Sweet Creme Menthol Mint Candy- 12mg 50/50 final solution (not including the menthol and ethyl maltol. I use super concentrated solutions so the volume used is very small)

  • 50% 24mg 50/50 nic solution
  • 16% PG
  • 16% VG
  • 15% Mint Candy (TFA)
  • 1.5% Creme De Menth (LA)
  • 1.5% Peppermint (LA)
  • Menthol Crystals
    • Not sure how much because I have a super strong solution I use and the exact strength is unknown.
  • Ethyl Maltol crystals
    • Not sure how much because I have a super strong solution I use and the exact strength is unknown.

You have my interest. I like menthols, so I think mint should be good, too.
Now, I do a little DYI, but not much. What is TFA and LA? Who are your vendors for the flavors? Sorry for the stupid questions, but I'm the noob in this area. :)

TFA= The Flavor Apprentice
LA=Lorrane?.

These are the manufacturers of the flavors. I get all my DIY stuff from Wizard Labs. I have found their service to be excellent and they have great prices. They are out of stock of many things right now, which I expect is because they just moved their facility and were closed for a couple weeks and just opened back up to what was most likely a bombardment of orders. They should be stocked back up soon. I highly rec commend them and have not found nic solution for cheaper anywhere.

When you say the volume used is very small for the ethyl malto and menthol how small are you talking? Can you give an estimate like 2 drops per 5ml? I love minty vapes but I don't have the menthol crystals or the mint candy flavor. I have everything else though and I may play around with this recipe some with what I do have on hand.

its really hard for me to determine the quantity. I know i use 4 drops of each per 10ml but that means nothing to you. My solutions are oversaturated. My menthol crystal solution turns solid at room temp and I have to run it under hot water to use it. The ethyl maltol solution is just barely over saturated at room temp. there are a few crystals floating at room temp. a little shake and the disapear. hope this helps

Somewhere on top of the world
Percentages would be really helpful, but I guess anyone who mixes their own menthol kinda knows how much
they like in their mixes anyway. The EM might be harder to nail though. Do you have a questimate of your em mix %'s?
Ill take a stab at it, sounds close to a 70% em to PG ratio as well as your menthol??? I bet some others on here could get a closer
guess though.

My gf will only vape menthol/mint types, and is very particular. She was running low not long ago, and the shop where she buys her favorite juice was out; so we sat down and tried to work out something she would like. The result is now her favorite, and is surprisingly simple:

15.5% TFA Peppermint
1.5% TFA Menthol
70%PG/30% VG

Do you make your crystals into a solution of a known strength? What carrier and strength do you use?

Mind you a pound is alot.... I like to go by what Glassmanoak says:

I can maybe help with the menthol. I fill a bottle (10ml or 15ml) half full of menthol crystals. Fill the rest of the bottle with PG, alcohol, VG or whatever liquid you like. I used PG. It takes a while, but you can warm in with a hot water bath. Shake well and often until the crystals are dissolved.
.....I use 1 or 2 drops of this menthol concentrate per ml when I mix an ejuice. I am a heavy menthol vaper, so use with caution. It will last a very long time. I bought 2 small packages of crystals 6 months ago, and I haven't mixed the second bag yet.
GOOD LUCK!!!

Some mix it with PGA or Everclear.

Thats pretty much what I do but doing it like that makes it hard for someone else to reproduce because we dont actually know how much in ending up in the juice. I think the best way is to make a solution of a known strength. Like a 10% solution. Then its easy to say 4 drops of 10% solution and there is no guess work. I am almost out of my solution now and the next time I mix one I will be doing it like that

You're probably right, but I pulverize the crystals so I'm not getting much variation because of crystal size. I never tell anyone how much Menthol to add to a recipe because adding Menthol to a juice is really "add to taste"

I'm a "has to be mint or menthol" person myself. I find other flavors uninteresting unless I add mint. :)

My Really Simple Menthol is basic, but nice. It's a slightly warm, slightly richened menthol with a nice polish. I tend to mix weak as I prefer weak flavors.

5% TFA Menthol (lately I make my own from menthol crystals)
1% TFA Cinnamon Red Hots
0.5% TFA Milk Chocolate

Neither the cinnamon nor the chocolate are a detectable flavor, they simply round out the menthol a bit.

Sounds tasty... I wonder if it would work with tfa white chocolate.... ? I like it sweet..
