Can anyone identify these wicks/coil + rebuilding Protank head

Thanks for taking a look at this thread. To start I'd like to find out what kind of wicks these are and if you can eyeball the gauge of this wire. I was given these by a friend tonight because I want to rebuild my Protank head.

Can anyone tell me the type of wick these are/the diameter estimate and the gauge of the wire? I placed a standard US quarter next to them as a size reference.

I'm also very interested in rebuilding my Protank head, but I'm not sure if I should do it because I do not have a resistance checker. I've watched a few videos of rebuilding and so far I haven't seen any ridiculously low resistance coils. I think I'd go for about 1.5-1.8ohms. How would I more accurately achieve that? More wraps? Less wraps?

I am using a K100. That's why I'm skeptical on rebuilding. I haven't seen less than 1.5ohms on a Protank rebuild, but I can't afford to blow my face off if I happen to build something super low or sub-ohm.

What's wrong with a 1.5Ω coil, if I may ask? Why would you want to go lower?

Nothing is wrong with a 1.5ohm coil, I'd actually like it. I just don't want to build something lower than that and put too much stress on my battery and blow my face off. My concern is building a coil without a way to check the resistance.

Oh, I see. Well, you really, really need a multimeter.

Like seriously.

Since you only have a mechanical mod that won't read the Ohms for you, please wait until you are able to buy one. I like the Atomizer Ohm meter that was designed specifically for e-cig use. Have you seen those?

Cartomizer and Atomizer Ohm Meter - Mini E-Cig Batteries & Chargers

Everybody is always sold out of those, so get on a waiting list--Mad Vapes sells them, and COV, many other vendors.

But if money is an issue ATM, you can pick up a regular (not the highest quality though) multimeter from Harbor Freight for a few bucks. A $5 multimeter is better than no multimeter at all.
