Can I use these batteries?

I got a vamo v-5 in July and it has been a pc of junk! The center pin issue a week after i got it, o ring and tweezers fixed that. The batteries quit charging a month later bought new button top batteries. Then the cheap charger that came with it quit working so I bought a good charger. It did fine for a while then one night I started getting strange read outs on the LED..like low v and then like tiling on the screen but I had just put a new battery in. I tried changing the clearomizer (removed i clear 30s and put my nautilus on there) and still nothing. Changed to fresh battery...nothing. So basically I'm tired of fooling with it but I want the bigger mod vaping experience so I broke down and ordered a provari because I am already into it with the battery charger and (2) Efest 18650 3.7 volt 3400mah li-ion with PCB (button top) The charger is also the Efest with LED volt read out that my local vape shop said was better than what came in the starter kit. I did not order the whole kit from provari, just the unit and the extender cap and extended warranty. Can I use these batteries and charger for the provari? I don't want to mess up my new mod. I send a question to pro vapes but haven't heard back from them. My mod is scheduled to arrive monday Do I need to order different batteries because local shop is way too $$$ on them and can get online for a lot less.

ProVape recommends IMR batteries for the ProVari. I may be wrong, but I think your Efests are ICRs.

Actually they are imr but they are also flat top...Provari needs a button top....and efest is unprotected...provape recommends protected....I am pretty sure the aw's are cheap enough 12 to 14? Depending on size.

(sent from Mars, it's not as red as I imagined.)

If your batteries are these: Efest 18650 3400mAh 3.7V Protected li-ion Battery w/ button Top, you cannot use them in ANY mod. These batteries are now considered obsolete for mod use because of their potential for flames & explosion. You need IMR (Li-Mn) or IMR/Hybrid safe-chemistry high-drain batteries.

See Baditude's (our resident battery/safety expert) blog post on this.

The charger, yes, the batteries, no.
One reason you experienced trouble with your previous APV was the battery's protection circuitry's and the APV's protection circuitry conflicting with each other.
The same will happen if used in the Provari.

It is always best to use the batteries the manufacturer recommends, batteries are not a good place to try to save $.
AW IMR high drain safer chemistry are unprotected and what Provape recommends.

^^^ This ^^^ only use a high drain IMR non-protected battery in any regulated device. Provari recommends AW IMR high drain only.

Along with the potential for violent venting and flames, the protection circuit on a low amperage ICR battery will cause issues in a regulated device. If you exceed the amp limit of the protection circuit on the battery it will trip and the device will not work.

Thanks so much I am junking these and getting the ones you suggested...man they must have seen me coming! they charged me 25 a pc for those batteries! And they wonder why brick and mortar are having trouble competing with the online stores. I'm going to hurry and order them now so I can be ready when my new lil friend gets here! And they said we would save money vaping? hahahahaha no big deal though I'm still saving money not buying cigarettes, air freshener, candles, body spray, gum....and my health worth more than all of it combined! Thanks for the nice welcome notes, I love this site, it is a wealth of information! Thanks guys :vapor:

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are a few reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics

Thanks for the additional links. I will book mark them. You never know when one vendor is sold out. I totally agree never buy batteries from ebay or amazon. The prices are cheap and so are the batteries they send you.
