The point is that the usb connector is a weak point in the box design, it gets stressed when putting batteries on and taking them off. It is vulnerable to being struck, knocked, or bumped against, especially with a battery sticking out. It just breaks too often and too easily.

The corded connector is more durable, less vunerable, and so they last longer.

I had to think about this (should have before I posted..sorry)...I can see what you are saying makes sense if the battery is being pushed into the charger while the charger is plugged into the USB port. And I didn't think about people bumping into them...that could definitely cause problems....lol

So having a cord does now make sense to me. But as for me I have not had any problems with my USB charger. I always plug the battery into it and then plug it into the USB port, and do the reverse after the battery is charged. Thanks for setting me straight...I came back here to post because it dawned on me that putting the battery in the USB charger while the charger is plugged in will cause stress...so on that I wanted to correct myself. You are doing fine..lol
