As the title says, can new members edit posts, specifically the first post in a thread they started?

Between my dyslexia and my iPhone's autocorrect, I'm afraid I'm going to come across illiterate if I can't edit the typos away.

I tried and got a pop up message saying it was spam like and it wouldn't let me. I know some forums don't let new members edit, and was curious if that's the case here.

Thanks guys.

I don't know, honestly, but it seems odd you can't edit your own posts. There is a minimum of 5 posts (posts, not threads) before full board privileges are allowed. Perhaps, if the system counts an edit as a fresh post it wouldn't be permitted. No real problem, though. Make your 5 posts by saying hi and welcome to other new members in this forum, and then I'm sure you'll be able to. The edit link is... I don't remember, bottom left, I think. Let me post this one and I'll check.

EDIT: Yes, the edit link is bottom left, between the poster's name / timestamp, and the "report"link.

DOUBLE EDIT: I forgot to welcome you to the board. So, welcome ;-)

A terrible and unnecessary policy, btw, but it is what it is.

Naw, it serves a good purpose (hence why it was implemented a long time ago, though I think the time period was set shorter on the old forum software IIRC). I've seen the mess that can result when that limitation is not in effect (on other forums). It can get pretty ugly when someone gets uppity and edits out all of their posts across the forum, essentially destroying discussion threads, and that's just one example ;)
