I have been experiencing hand tremors for about for a while now. If I hold out my arms and hands out it is obvious. What I am wondering is if nicotine can be the key source of this issue. In my case there can possibly be another two causes but nicotine can be one of the main causes.

Has anyone experienced hand tremors and verified with doctors, or via process of elimination that it's the nicotine (or the body sensing a lack of nicotine)? A lot of things would make sense for me if others experienced this too.

On a side note, I know we here are not doctors in general, although there are many doctors that vape so some members may be doctors. I was thinking that if the doctors who are members were able to answer questions like mine that would be amazing. Just like there is "ask the veterans", there can be a section for "ask the doctors". The doctor will have to go through a process similar to what it takes to become a verified member and they will become "verified doctors". That's just me brainstorming. I don't know if it makes sense or if others would agree with me and if it would be implemented, but decided to throw it out there.

A responsible DR. would not answer medical issues here. Maybe someone will have a link or two if you can't find an answer from googling the issue. I've not experienced anything you have described. Hope it is a temporary condition for you.

If I dont have nicotine in a long time, (like weeks or months) then partaking of nicotine is a bit like speed.. it's like wide awake, full of energy etc. I might shake some then, but not a whole lot.. for me caffeine and nicotine react the same way...

As a general rule though, nicotine doesn't make me shake, most especially when I'm using it daily.

My condition is not too bad, but it's too bad I have to be experiencing any level of hand tremors at my young age. I saw a neurologist but didn't listen to a thing she said and didn't schedule a new appointment because she thought vaping is bad for me like cigarettes. I refuse to trust such a doctor. I guess I need to find the right doc. Still other people's experiences shed light onto this topic so that's why I posed the question.

Aw, :censored:!

I spent the best part of an hour with my "rest of the story", but it just got way to long and centered too much around tremors. So will cut it back to.......

I've seen enough "specialists" over a few years and not a one mentioned or inquired about nicotine use and I had been a smoker for the best part of 40 years. Now, after 3 8/12 months as a vaper/former smoker, there seems to be no discernable change in the gradual increase in severity of the tremors.

As far as what causes tremors? I've come to the conclusion that nobody really knows.

Lots of coffee and cigarettes have caused temporary tremors for me, especially with sleep deprivation. That experience is meaningless to you. Sadly no one can offer a medical opinion online, never mind a vape forum, without something more to go on than a typed post. Go see someone and see what they say. Find a neurologist you can work with.

For sure nicotine could help to induce hand tremors.
Hand Tremors | 3 Behaviors That Can Worsen Essential Tremor
Effects of cigarette smoking and oral nicotine on hand tremor. - PubMed - NCBI
And vaping, surprisingly, can easily lead to nicotine overdose.
But it will be much wise to see a doctor, not just listen to us, vapers. Hand tremors can indicate a lot of conditions which should be treated ASAP.

I think there should be a clear line between nicotine causing tremors and nicotine's "potential effects" on those with tremors. Both articles linked deal with the latter and offer no evidence that "nicotine could help to induce hand tremors."

I rather doubt it unless your nic level has skyrocketed since quitting smoking (i.e. you are vaping more nicotine than you were smoking). If that's the case, I might suggest lowering your nic level some and see what happens. I'm really rather doubtful in this case, I couldn't really offer an opinion since I have hand tremors to begin with but they haven't worsened, if anything they've improved slightly.

I would say it's cause for concern, and yeah, an internet doctor isn't going to be so useful, unfortunately. I would ask to see a different neurologist, although did she run any tests? You should have those forwarded to your next medical professional so you don't have to repeat them if so.

I rather might go in with the approach: "I have these mysterious tremors what could be possible causes?" and rule them all out, in which case you can safely consider that the cause might be vaping, although if there is some mysterious tremoring that can be caused by nicotine alone (I am not a neurologist) I guess maybe having all cards on the table might be helpful.

Have you tried stopping for a few days to see if they improve, or even vaping no nic for a few days? I'd stick with your regular flavors and PG/VG ratio to see if nic itself is the cause.

Not enough information even for us non-internet-docs.

Since I couldn't quite "like", "agree", or "disagree", I settled for a "useful." That's because I believe there is not enough information, or even knowledge about what causes tremors for even the expert professionals to provide a definitive answer.

But your post about "lack of information" gave me pause to realize that we don't even know for sure whether OP is dealing with tremors or "the shakes." IMHO, there is a difference.

(Hopefully I haven't opened a can of worms with "do the shakes lead to tremors?")

There are far to many causes for shaky hands, no matter your age. If your primary doc referred you to a neurologist, ask them for another referral or discuss the many possible culprits.
I think that the bottom line is what @Vchick said. The truth is I need to be seeing a doctor in person & it's always better that way. I just need to find the right doc. There can be many more variables in this that I may not even know about so I think this direction of seeing a new neurologist in person is the best way to go. Pondering as to whether nic can cause the tremors or shakes won't get me anywhere. Took me few a days to realize this.

Age, recent health, different climate, when quit smoking, nicotine level, high/low ohms, wattage/tc, weight, medications, new cat, democrat, ... err. 10000+ otherthings get in the way of any real and meaningful answer....

I'm not a doctor nor am I pretending to be a doctor. Hand tremors could be a sign of addiction withdrawals. It could be a spinal problem such as a pinched nerve. It could be a neurological problem. The only one who would really know would be an actual doctor that I am not.
Hope you feel better soon
