I thought my Trustfire was great. No spacers, no nada. I just got an xtar cuz of all the raves over it. It's looks like a pain in the .... compared to my Trustfire. The batteries don't sit as securely, and what's with the damn spacers? Is it really that much better and why?
The sliders in a trustfire or ultrafire charger do not provide as good of a contact as the spacers and springs in the Xtar chargers. The real benefit of this is increased charge accuracy. Also the charge controller is higher quality give a little safer charge. Just my 2 cents worth.
The two channel model lets you switch between 500mA and 1000mA so you can fast-charge IMRs. (Probably regulars too.) And yeah, it lets you charge a USB device if you put a battery in it and switch it to USB mode. The main benefit of chargers like this is the accurate charge monitoring and trickle charge. They're generally safer and treat the batteries better so they last longer.
I have both and use both chargers. I like the Tr-001 Charger for its ease of use. Like the Xtar because it charges faster,,
Ive used the Tr001 for 3 years and never had issues at all.. I have 3 of them in use. So I would say its a good charger,
Xtar for a month now. Time will tell..
sold my PILA once i got the Xtar's in.
XTAR chargers are VERY good chargers even in comparison with PILA they are either on par or some say better (according to a few reviews and youtube clips) but you know there will always be nay'sayers
