Hi,

When I placed my first order for e-liquid a couple of weeks ago I ordered 24mg strength. When I received it and my kit I tried the e-liquid and ended up choking and coughing with every puff. So in a different thread someone told me how to dilute it so it would be about 16mg which ended up being still too strong.

The e-liquid came in a 30ml bottle which is what I diluted which brings me to my question...Can the diluted liquid be diluted again, or did I mess up by diluting the whole 30ml the first time? I received my second order last night in which I ordered the e-liquid in 12mg strength which seems about right.

thank you,
betty

Sure you can dilute it again. How are you doing on the 12mg? If you're still coughing badly it may not be the nicotine level.

I am doing better on the 12mg as long as I remember not to do a big inhale! I still choke and cough if I inhale too deeply. I am still learning how to smoke this thing!! I read the article for newbies on how to smoke an e-cig but I need to read it again.

I am finding that as soon as I finish puffing on the e-cig for a while and put it down I am craving an analog, so I am definitely doing something wrong  I just don't know what.

Thank you for the answer on the diluting :)

Just give it time, Betty. My older sister is having these same issues. But after a month trying, she had 3 packs left in the carton after a week.

Please always feel free to come back here and ask for help, folks here are happy to help.

Thank you for letting me know about your sister, it gives me a bit more hope that I will get the hang of it. I am just looking forward to the day that I don't have to ask my husband to pick me up a carton of cigarettes and see the dirty look on his face...lol (married a non-smoker).

thank you again,

Just a thought, it sounds like the coughing was about not yet having the method of vaping down, which is really common..and probably not about nicotine level. Once your inhalation technique is working, if you're still finding you're craving an analog you might want to revisit the higher nicotine level..or just vape more, since it enters your system differently (most people agree more slowly) than with cigarettes. And hang in there, it gets better. =)

Thank you for the great reply!
What I am trying now is mixing the 12mg and 16mg liquid when I refill my clearomizer. I am still coughing a bit in the beginning but I still have the bad habit of inhaling too much. I find if I exhale some of he vapor right after the puffing then inhale what is left I don't cough.
It is definitely a learning process.
One good thing I am also finding is that I much prefer the taste of the e-liquid vs. my analogs. I am so hoping that this will be an incentive to puff more and light up less.

thank you again,

I had the same problem basically...not really coughing for me but the 24mg nicotine made my throat and lungs...I guess "hurt" to much, like I couldn't breathe well I would describe it(Note: I do have asthma.) I got 0mg base from a local store and diluted the 24mg main liquid down. I didn't dilute the whole bottle though, did it in a little cup and then put it in my tank. I got it down to somewhere in the 12-16mg range that way, and it was better. I do smoke all VG also btw, and it was still to much, so it definitely wasn't because of PG or something, PG makes my asthma even worse it seems and I can't breathe at all. The first liquid I ordered was from Johnson Creek, that was the 24mg ones. So I returned those 5 bottles to them and they sent me back the 11mg nicotine bottles(Johnson Creek is amazing with that btw, all the bottles were opened and I used some out of 2 of the bottles, and they sent back brand new bottles for me, and even switched flavors, and they paid for shipping). It is much much better for me.

I do find that I am vaping more, but I don't think that is a problem. I was a pack a day smoker, so the way I see it, if I smoke 2mL of the 11mg juice a day, that would equate to about a pack a day. How many analogs did you smoke a day? You shouldn't have to worry about vaping to much if you have 12mg juice now, if you smoked a pack a day like me...just try to not smoke more than 2-2.5mL a day and you would be in the range of how much nicotine you absorbed a day with analogs.

I've never seen any positive proof about ml= ? cigs. Do you have good documentation about this? I know you're just trying to be helpful.

Many ecig users are happy to vape as much as it takes to get off of the cigs, and then stay off.

Well I am just basing it off of how much nicotine is in one cigarette. I smoked Camel Menthols...and from various sites I looked at it seems that each cigarette of Camel Menthols have 1.0 - 1.3 mg of nicotine in it, obviously based on how you smoke. So if you got the entire possible nicotine from each cigarette, that would be 26mg of nicotine a pack. So if you are smoking 12mg juice, 12mg of nicotine for each mL, if you smoke 2mL it would be 24mg of nicotine a day. Obviously it isn't perfect, but it is a rough enough model that I feel comfortable vaping that much basically.

Every real cigarette has differing amounts of nicotine per cigarette it seems though. It looks like Newports for example might have a tiny bit more nicotine than Camel Menthols, say 1.3-1.5mg nicotine per cig for Newports as opposed to 1.0-1.3mg for Camels, and lights look like they have a bit less, 1.0-1.1 or something if I rememebr correctly. But it all basically is in the same range, it would only be a 4mg difference in nicotine from Newports to Camels with a whole pack, 26mg for Camels and 30mg for Newports, so the difference is negligible. So 2.5mL of juice to me at 12mg seems good for me at least. Obviously how you smoke/vape plays a big difference as well. A real cigarette actually has MORE than 1.3mg or whatever of nicotine, more like 10mg of nicotine in the entire cigarette I believe I read somewhere, but since you don't smoke the ENTIRE thing, since the cigarette burns while not even inhaling and other factors like how much you inhale and stuff, you only injest the lower amounts of nicotine I said above. I suppose if you really inhale the entire cig non stop you would be injesting more nicotine than 1.3mg, but 1.3mg is just an average. I suppose this applies to vaping as well, based on how long you hold it in your mouth/lungs, if you breathe out your nose, etc. At least you know exactly how much nicotine is in 1mL though with eliquid.

I probably am taking in more nicotine than I did with analogs though either way. Yes 2.0-2.5mL would be a rough analog for how much nicotine I got with real cigs, but I can't control myself and really probably vape somewhere in the +3mL range, since I like the taste to much. I got through at least 2 eVod tanks a day, I believe they hold 1.7mL, so that's 3.4mL right there, might go through even more than 2 tanks I never really counted...I should probably do that. I doubt I am getting the entire 12mg per mL though so I guess it doesn't really matter all to much. If I stuck with 24mg liquid though I definitely would be getting much more nicotine than I would need.

Hehe, vaping low nic can still choke ya!

Suck on it like a straw. From there, I'll breathe a little into my lungs from my nose. Leave your lips slightly apart, and it'll actually pull it back, so something like an RY4 hits the back of your pallet with the caramel notes. It's quite the experience, really. Then slowly exhale out the nose.

Don't vape deep into your lungs like smoking. Far more pleasant experience if I don't, from my lungs and everything to the taste of mixed/complex juices with various notes.

Thank you so much for the pointers, they have helped :)

Another question...how do you know when to change the atomizer?

    thank you,

    Another good question!

I'm new and had the same question. Last night I found out.

You'll just know. Your liquid will taste off or burnt, it will be harder to "draw". You'll just know when the time comes.

If in doubt, go for it. At worst you'll realize the flavor didn't change and you changed it too soon. Doesn't waste more than a dollar or two, really.

Your reply arrived at a perfect time!! I noticed on my e-cig a few minutes ago that it is like sucking air. A similar feeling would be if you were drinking something with a straw and the straw has an air pocket in it. You get some through the straw but then you hit the air pocket and don't get anything.

Time to go and grab a new one and use it ;)

    thank you again,
