Can you remove the threaded wick on the attys?

I'm using a 510 and dripping 100% of the time. Can I remove the threaded wick under the bridge?
Would it make my attys last longer without it there? I am thinking it would be one less thing that could cause the element to fail.

You can, and some say for dripping it is the way to go. Based on this, I've tried it a couple of times. I found that it kept my atty either leaking, or dry. In my experience the wick helps the atty hold the juice which is a plus even while dripping (which I do exclusively). I have never had a problem caused by the wick being in my atty, and since removing it has caused me nothing but problems, I see no reason to ever do it again.

I remove not only the wick threads, but the bridge itself. I get better vapor, flavor, and TH from an exposed coil and dripping directly on the coil. I'm guessing that the bridge robs some heat from the coil, which slightly lowers the wattage, but this could be false. Either way, it seems to work.

The downside, as starsandbars mentioned, is the atty can leak more and dry out easier. I don't have this problem, but it can happen.
