Can you require sellers to post what they paid for the item?

I want sellers on the ecf classifieds to be required to list a manufacturers suggested retail price or a price they paid or traded for when posting item(s) for sale.

There are some outrageous scalper prices being listed(+200%) which are misleading/implying that certain hard to get items can not be bought brand new at a much less amount.

I believe implementing a new rule like this may prevent some buyers' remorse and help the retailers who are selling new items at at a more reasonable price.

The problems i see is that it takes advantage of fair marketing set by AMERICAN vendors. And it keeps those who want to buy the product out of the running unless they have great discretionary funds. Why should the encouragement of one european supplier to sell his mods at a premium set the standard for this free for all?

I don't agree with that (IMHO), for no real reason other than any buyer of ANYTHING (not only ecigs), have a self responsibility or due diligence to research pricing for themselves. It's nobody's business what someone selling paid for the item, let alone a requirement to provide the MSRP of an item.

Shop smart..... or get taken.... it's all about 'choices', and just how badly you want an item.

I think most folk who are informed buyers have already done the research before they start looking at the Classies.

For example, it is impossible to buy an Empire or a Helix unless you happen to be at a BIG meet and first in line. They just do not hit the websites for sale. Empire Mods hasn't had their own PV on the site for sale in a long time now. Whether or not Cisco is ever going to make more Helixes again is unknown.

For those of us unable to go from one coast to another for a large meet, getting a Helix or an Empire on the classies is an opportunity to have something we could not otherwise enjoy.

I won't speak to the European and other sourced gear as I don't use it, have not looked for it. I buy American whenever I can and it is a quality product.

Another option would be to set up a new classifieds section exclusively for this type of predatory behavior. You can name it Scalpers Section or Shark Tank

Or you could simply just "vote with your feet". We've beat this to death over and over. It is up to the buyer to exercise due diligence and "know the market"

I don't know about euro vendors - it seems to me that there are at least 10 products now that you can't buy or can't buy easily. Why is it wrong to sell such things at over retail? That is what a market is all about - name your price, and if someone buys, that's what it was worth to them. If nobody buys then reduce it. What is wrong with that?

I'd like a rebuildable atty/tank but I can't get one because the procedure to buy one hurts me so much it just isn't worth it - I don't have the time or patience or whatever else it might take such as a secret code. If someone offered one in the classies and I could just buy the darn thing even if it was +50% I might go for it. But I can't because as soon as one is offered, it's gone.

What exactly does that tell you? It tells me that if I didn't currently have a job, and still had access to a machine shop, there is a sizeable market out there for quality built APVs in stainless or cupro-nickel, and rebuildable tank atties with SS wicks - at any price. You can sell the next 2 years' production in advance.

So as far as I can see, some 2nd hand prices are justified. And if they're not, they don't sell.
