Been trying to order sample PTN4050C and PTR08100W from their site, logged in clicked on free samples for each but in samples cart Quantity stays at 0 can not change it. Has anyone tried to order these lately and if so how did you get it to work tried chrome and firefox all the same.

quick edit this is the first time I have ever ordered from them and set up account today.

They may have had too many requests for that particular part and stopped sending out samples. I've found if you don't get too greedy with the mfg's. you can usually squeeze a few samples from them. Maxim is usually good about it and TI has been generous as well in the past. I'll usually add some other parts to the sample request to make it appear like it is for some type of prototype.
Last time I got samples was probably 6 months ago, so they might have changed policy.

poland, and the brassy lands of google
From the CAH, CAS, CAD and CAZ, they all have pins of some sort. There is another (CASH?) but it isn't in the sample program. I desolder all the pins and attach components to the residual solder left in the hole. If there were one without pins at all, I would be all over it. :)

People should not be ordering samples after samples and taking advantage of it. It will just ruin the opportunity for everyone . They may have stopped giving out samples of those particular items. When that happens they usually pull it expecially with 20 dollar chips. Twice, three times in a 1 year period is about the most anyone should need. By that time you should know if you want to buy the part.

As I stated in the first post I have never before ordered a sample from TI so I don't see how I could be taking advantage of It.

Not saying you , just everyone in general that does take advantage of it. Iv heard someone say a while back that they order some every few weeks for a year straight and build mods for sale with them. Thats just crazy and taking advantage. When it gets out and posted all over FREE SAMPLES in big letters in open forums they end up giving away more then they sell and thus remove it from the sample list. Then the people looking to try one out for a potential production build gotta pay 25 bucks just to see if they want to go with that chip.

Im guessing if its showing 0 in your cart thats what happened.

TI = Texas Instruments apparently they have a program where you can order part samples before you buy (except now for certain parts)
the chips I was trying to order are for VV mods.

TI is still allowing samples of all kinds of chips...they have however changed the rules...if you create an acct w a free Email acct they will deny you...you MUST use an acct linked with you internet acct or a business email acct...otherwise it will not allow addition of the samples to the cart...

DO NOT BE GREEDY...the change in their sample policy was directly related to the MASS influx of sample orders for certain components...I was told if it continues likely they will change the policy again to avoid abuse while still allowing the system to work...read the faq for the sample program beforehand, it is very informative and will tell you most of what I or others have said and more...and you are allowed 1 each item but only 5 samples per order now...this is a boon to those trying their hand at modding don't wreck it for the rest...
