Yes, safe enough go for it
or
No, don't do it and this is why

Thanx Y'awll
You can if:

You don't build low resistance coils.. I would shoot for 2.5ohm

AND

You have a way of checking the coil for shorts before firing it on your ego.

i would not recommend using an RBA on any type of ego.

even if you build a coil with the proper resitance, that doesnt mean it will stay there. if your RBA skills are top-notch you may be okay, but im new at building coils and i have noticed that your coil can fluctuate resistance out of nowhere. if its not wrapped properly (or if your wick is not properly oxidized, or if the wick hits the bottom of the tank) you can get a short and blow the battery.

ive never had a vivi nova head short after being rebuilt properly, but i just got a Vulcan (DID Clone / CHID) yesterday and ive gotten the OP error code so many times i cant even keep track. its weird, it will go from 2.5ohms, up to 6.6ohms, then down to 1.6ohms, then OP for example. this is all without touching anything, just vaping it. OP is open current and if you get an open current on your ego, kiss it goodbye.

I wouldn't use an genisis type RBA with an ego but you should be ok with a silica wick RBA. Also, some EGO batteries don't work with Kanthal wire...I don't know why, but they don't. Lately all the ego batteries I have bought don't work with Kanthal wire no matter the resistance of the coil. If you make the same coil with nichrome wire, they work perfectly.

Honestly, It is very hard to build attys and getting them work properly without a VV battery....it would be very frustrating.

I would agree here, especially if you're just starting out, that it's a really great idea to have a VV device with ohms readings built into it- it will save you a lot of hassles when trying to get your coils set up properly.

If you're more experienced, a mechanical mod without VV will work for you- but you lose the ability to step up the voltage incrementally, which leads to lots of popped coils if you're inexperienced. Ymmv

All good responses which I really appreciate.

So onto the other facet of this.
I really want to try rebuilding attys. I don't want to detonate anything in the process tho.
Plus I want to do this cheeeeeeep.

So,

I am considering, now, a VariStack vv350. Which is cheeeep, but it's also all plastic, BUT it can take protected batteries.

Yeah, I would love an all chrome or all black solid metal VV that reads the ohmage of your created coil AND looks really wicked awesome.

I need affordable tho.

Like REALLY affordable.

All this just to play with an atomizer.

I guess I am officially a VapeTweak.
