Very very strange.. Never heard of these guys before, it a very weak paper in medical terms.

If you check their board of directors you will find:

Board of Directors | CADTH

Ms. Abby Hoffman
Associate Assistant Deputy Minister, Health Policy Branch, Health Canada

Something is up with this, just not sure what. Maybe the new angle is because e-cigs are an effective smoking cessation product they should be regulated?? I can't see Hoffman shooting herself in the foot, right under her nose.

Something we should watch very closely.

Thanks for that info.

The report is just an abstract. These are published for all research projects - for cataloguing and reference. The full study should be out there somewhere. Would love to get ahold of the actual study.

As to the Board appearance of Hoffman - it's always difficult to know what her involvement is - if any. Boards require a signed agreement that Directors have to either vote without respect to any other position they hold - or abstain on the issue. Hoffman may or may not be even able to share info with her employer. It's a nice development - but HC doesn't have to accept this study - any more than they've accepted other studies.

...hoping though...

I honestly don't think HC cares if e-cigs are safe when used as directed. They are only banning it because of the access to nicotine. That won't change, no matter how many studies say that vaping is fine for us.

Think about it. They know nicotine, when consumed in appropriate doses, is safe. And that's the only thing they can regulate! They can't regulate anything else with respect to e-cigs, so what good does it saying that it's safe?

What's "not safe" is having a bottle of nicotine at your disposal. It's unfortunate, but no amount of studies regarding vaping will change that. That's my 2 cents on the matter. There needs to be political pressure. Someone with some clout needs to stand up and insist that the benefits of vaping vastly outweighs the hazard of owning nicotine in bottled form.

I hope that made sense.
