It's funny but I still expect to be hacking up phlegm every morning as a matter of habit. It hasn't happened since I quit smoking. As short as a week afterward, I could inhale, and feel like I could just keep on inhaling for ages. It took me a couple of days to get used to, and was a really sobering reality.

I wish the blessing of that on everybody who wants to quit smoking, so I hope that new smoker follows through and posts here so we can help him/her along.

I agree. I am an auto detailer. I have to use an acid on rims to get them clean. it is horrible smelling stuff. I have to hold my breath while I spray and sometimes have to walk away and take a fresh breath and go back. since quitting analogs, I realize I can hold my breath now for the whole rim spraying without the need to walk away and take a breath... so my lung capacity is improving...
