Okay, so I've been wondering how to write this up over the past 24 hours. We will be cancelling our Kony 2012 support and all current donations from purchased PG-Blueberry Crumble will go instead to our original charity for this time "Home For Our Troops".

At first, we were hard pressed to find "transparency" which to us is very important. So I (my responsibility) went ahead with this drive under the assumption that through the course of it I would find better transparency in their funding and expenditures, and I did, but it wasn't what was expected. I've lost all faith now that this company, even if it was working, would do a good job of distributing the money responsibly. Along with that assertion I've also come to realize the campaign from the start was "vampire commerce" designed to get a response from us (chemical, emotional, oxytocin-related empathy, whatever) without an actual plan and reportedly towards someone who is likely dead or at the least out of power. This isn't the first time my generosity has been tapped in this way and I'm sure it won't be the last, so I would like to take this time to apologize to ANYONE who might have been pulled into this charitable cause by my actions.

That being said, our donation drives are designed for this kind of discovery (we never donate until we've vetted the sources, ask Hannah and Pete from Team Hannah) so the funds can be re-purposed to "Homes For Our Troops" as this was the most popularly voted (and vetted) charity before this came about. I hope I've been transparent enough, so far, with how we gather and send our donations and I have full faith that we are still doing a good job even if I was overly enthusiastic this time around. You'll notice that our links to charities generally go to websites showing their transparency and accountability, this is to help you make guided choices and for us to make sure the cause is legit. We promise to keep this level of visibility in the future.

Glad you were able to find out the real story there, Ben!

As for the "new" charity...

As a military retiree (22 years active duty in the USAF), I'm always happy to see something to help our troops. I think there is nothing more worthwhile than supporting those who selflessly defend our freedoms.

YOU ROCK !!
