Hey everyone, you may remember me from such posts as "I'm brand new, what should I buy?!", and "I'm so confused, please give me a hug".

Anyway, I finally ordered my first ecig (trying to get off tobacco) and after going back-and-forth on what I should actually order for the last week, I just put my order in. Anyway, I decided on an eGo kit from canvape. Basically, the kit included 2 1100mah batteries, 2 stardusts, 2 ce2 clearos, usb/wall chargers, a carrying case for everything, and they have a special happening right now where I got an extra kanger t2 tank for free. That's a lot of starter kit for $50...

Getting back to my posts title, I never would have been able to figure it all out on my own given how many different opinions I got when I initially posted in the new members forum asking (oh so innocently) "What should I get?". Thanks to Tom over at canvape (who has sent me 20+ emails answering my noob questions before I sent a single loonie his way) I'm pretty sure I got a good starter setup.

Seriously, you don't get that kind of attention and service at real brick-and-mortar stores 99% of the time, and this dude was totally patient, and led me in the right direction. He actually recommended against me buying a more expensive setup on his site since I was a first timer (basically said "This one is cheaper and will give you more options to try different things to find what you like").

I'm not a shill, and I'm not the type of guy that normally goes online to rave about how great a shopping experience is, but every so often I have to give credit where credit is due.

Oh, not to mention, it's currently 9PM where I live - on a Sunday evening, on Labour Day weekend, and he sent me an email back within 20 minutes telling me he noticed that I took his advice on the kit and would get it out to me ASAP. This guy is a rockstar.

I just had to share that story with someone, since it's so rare to see such stellar service. Also, wish me luck on my switch from tobacco to vaping!

I thought I was the only special one. :D. All kidding aside I also ordered from Tom today. I used Canvape for my big first order 2 weeks ago. He is super helpful and extremely quick on his responses to your questions. He answers emails faster than most friends do.

He got back to me with confirmation within 2 hours and asked me to let him know what I thought of his recommendations. Thats the type of service that keeps you coming back.

Btw Rob... Congrats on your purchases. Good luck bro.

First, thanks for the good luck sent my way. Second, yeah, I can't see myself using any other site for this stuff in the future as long as the e-liquids match my tastes. Like I said - you rarely get that level of service in real life, let alone from an online seller. Even if the e-liquids don't work for me - canvape has a decent variety of batteries and clearomizers/cartomizers/adapters/etc, so they'll be the ones I buy. Online stores should take notes on how well canvape (and Tom) do things.

Great to hear you got yourself a nice kit! What you got will give you lots of versatility, it is a great start. And just to let you know, personally I believe "Tom" is some sort of super advanced computer that can answer 50 emails at once and still make Mopar his coffee :D

LMAO - after I replied to his most recent email (thanking him for being around at this hour, on this weekend) he wrote back (paraphrasing) "I guess that's why some people accuse me of being a machine :p". I guess you're one of those "some people". Personally, I'm just going with "small business owner" rather than "machine", as I am one of those myself and know how hard it is. Either way, mopar is delicious....

Right on man... IMO, a joke doesn't get old until *I'm* sick of it, so go for it! BTW, I forgot to mention before, but I also ordered a 5 pack of Boge LR cartomizers to go with my kit since I want to try anything and everything to get rid of my tobacco habit. In your opinion is that a good way to round out my starter selection? I figure I got 3 different types of clearomizers, and a pack of tried-and-true (according to youtube) cartomizers. There are so many opinions out there it's hard to choose.

Also, I didn't call Tom mopar, so I did not imply HE was delicious, just that his coffee is (based on what you said). I'm sure he is delicious, but I'm not the one that's going to be the judge of that...ever :).

Boge cartos are the perfect way to round out that kit, you get to try all sorts of different vaping experiences and go from there....there has been some issues with the newer boges of late, but the last batch i got from Canvape was still the older ones and vape great. Just to clarify, The owner of Canvape goes by the name of Mopar here on ECF ;) And Tom is his slave (or so he tells me LOL, don't tell Mopar i said that :p) Make your way over to the Canadian Suppliers section and you can get in on the official Canvape thread if you want :D You have taken all the right steps and are on your way to getting rid of those nasty smokes for the rest or your life, and you can always count on us here in the Canadian forum to help you out along the way...just a bunch of fantastic folks here.

Oh and there is Kevofar as well. biggrinjester.gif

Oh so many inside jokes on this site :)

Yeah, I'm gonna visit the canvape subreddit, er, thread ASAP... To be honest, I'd never even tried one of those gas station ecigs until yesterday when I started talking to a friend of mine about how excited I was to try switching from tobacco to vaping. She then pulled a Vapur one out of her truck and said she (who had been a 5 cig/day smoker for 10 years) had not had a tobacco cig for 2 months because of it. That was a no-nic one. It tasted really great (coffee!) but had not hit to it. As a 1.5 pack/day smoker it gave me hope, and when I tried that (almost dead) gas station ecig it was...not bad! I can't wait to get my kit and go full on. I've quit tobacco for 1+ years in the past using a nicorette inhaler, but eventually just went back because those inhalers are as expensive as "analogues" and taste gross. If vaping is as great as everyone says it is I'll do it forever (and maybe slowly ween myself off the nic).

Well I hope it works out for you, there will be bumps in the road I am sure, lots of folks have a hard time finding the right juice so don't get discouraged if some are not to your liking, lots of us have a big drawer full of juice that never sees the light of the coil. And it is not something that does not take a bit of effort and time to make work, so just stay at it and keep focused. It is worth the extra effort.

Fair enough. I only ordered one 30ml bottle of e-juice, just to try it out. Thanks to Canada Post I can get more in just a couple of days if the experience works for me. Otherwise, everything is going on ebay :)

Great first choice of equipment. I had the same first order except I added a 510 starter too, for the wife. I also added 2 ego twist batteries.
One thing to watch is the batteries you got might not work with the stardusts if you've used a ce3 first. The terminal in the battery gets pushed down to far for the stardust to make contact, so just use tweezers or something and work them around the side of the contact while pulling up a bit and it'll raise it up enough to make contact. I use the ego twists for stardusts and vivi novas only. You might want to try a VV battery like the twist because having control of the voltage can make a huge difference.
Good luck switching off analoges and don't be discouraged if you smoke a few here and there. I did at first and then cut out the after meal one then the bedtime one and then the morning one. I'm now at 0 analoges down from 2 packs a day. I tried ecigs in 2009 but I eventually gave up as it was a pain with the old equipment, but now the new stuff is sooo much better

Ebay won't let you sell e-cig stuff, but we do have a great Classifieds section on ECF that you may sell unused stuff, or maybe just start nudging some smoker friends in the vaping direction with some free starter stuff ;)

That makes sense. I checked eBay before doing anything and it was...limited (apparently some people know how to get through the cracks). I verified my account here on ECF just to get into the buy/sell aspect, so thanks for the advice. I'm a salesman at heart so I know I can get rid of anything if I want to :).

I just re-read your post and saw this. I've watched a bunch of videos on youtube, and read a bunch of posts here. Even though I hate the idea of things not "just working", I tinker in real life. I've learned a lot about how you have to mess with your gear to get it to work the way you want, but your post is the first one I've seen about battery poles. Thanks for that. I don't mind if I have to adjust my gear, but it would have been stressful to do that particular adjustment without seeing that it was considered "normal" :).

Of the 5 vendors I've purchased from up here, 4 have been ridiculously friendly and answered any questions (The other I just ordered, got my stuff, business as usual) even answering some I didn't know I had yet within the hour. Maybe it's just luck, maybe it's that Canadian charm, I dono, but it's a small community that seems to take care of their own.

Besides, it's just good for business, word of mouth is the best advertising you never have to pay for.
